Content Strategist EHS & Sustainability role at Valmont Industries, Inc. Based at or near Omaha, Nebraska; remote candidates located within Nebraska may be considered. The role reports to the VP Global Safety, Health & Environmental and collaborates with senior leaders across EHS, Finance, Legal, Risk, and HR. Primary Responsibilities Manage internal and external reporting and communications supporting global EHS, sustainability, and stewardship compliance. Develop and deliver reports, presentations, and other communications reflecting performance, goals, and compliance across environmental, health, safety, and sustainability domains. Lead broader EHS communication efforts: relay regulatory updates, initiatives, performance metrics, incident learnings, and strategic priorities to the global organization. Support internal stakeholders in understanding EHS requirements and act as a liaison between regional teams and corporate leadership. Review and provide guidance on customer questionnaires, MSAs, and contract language related to EHS, sustainability, and stewardship. Monitor evolving global regulations, conduct impact assessments, and communicate emerging risks to impacted teams. Assist with building and executing a strategic sustainability and EHS communication roadmap for on-time, accurate jurisdictional reporting. Collaborate with Corporate Communications to prepare the Annual Sustainability Report and other EHS-related communications. Ensure jurisdictional sustainability and EHS reports are accurate, timely, and consistent in messaging across regions. Prepare materials for and participate in Valmont Sustainability Steering Committee (SSC) meetings; provide data analysis to identify trends and areas of focus. Support Investor Relations in answering EHS, sustainability, or stewardship inquiries; assist business segments with customer inquiries about compliance and performance. Develop a mechanism to track investor and customer inquiries and provide quarterly metrics to the SSC. Oversee third-party ESG regulatory monitoring and engage with SSC and affected parties to review regulatory developments. Engage with third-party ESG raters and rankers (e.g., S&P CSA, Ecovadis, CDP, ISSB) and develop improvement strategies across EHS and sustainability. Participate in Valmont-ISS relationship management and report updates to the SSC, including environmental and safety indicators where relevant. Improve Valmonts annual sustainability disclosures to align with GRI, GHG Protocol, TCFD, ISSB, and applicable jurisdictional requirements. Stay current on sustainability best practices and trends; recommend concepts to maximize effectiveness. Conduct annual benchmarking against peers in EHS, sustainability, ESG, and stewardship. Understand customer requirements by segment; monitor supplier expectations related to EHS compliance and sustainability. Represent the company at various functions or business council meetings; adhere to brand guidelines and ensure high-quality copy.

Other Important Details About The Role

Manage sustainability event calendars, conferences, roadshows, and briefing materials for investor participation. Travel with management to investor conferences and non-deal roadshows when appropriate (up to 20% travel). Develop and maintain understanding of business drivers and metrics; identify themes for investor discussions to inform the executive team. Gather market intelligence to educate senior leadership on market dynamics. Perform competitive and strategic analysis of Valmont and peers; produce written communications such as press releases and investor relations content. Identify opportunities for continuous improvement.

Required Qualifications

Bachelors degree in Finance, Economics, Sustainability, Communications, or related field with 5+ years of relevant experience; or Associates degree with 7+ years; or 9+ years of relevant experience. Strong analytical, verbal, and written communication skills. Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple projects and stakeholders. Skilled in writing reports, business correspondence, and procedures; capable of presenting to diverse audiences including managers, clients, and the public. Creative thinker who translates strategy into actionable plans. Sound judgment, decision-making, and a collaborative, transparent approach. Strong leadership and influence skills across organizational levels, even without direct authority. Self-motivated and comfortable presenting to C-level executives and external audiences. Proven ability to build and maintain professional business relationships. Excellent organizational and project management skills; able to balance priorities and meet deadlines. Willingness to travel up to 20% for business needs.

Preferred

Masters degree in Finance, Economics, Sustainability, or Communications. 5+ years of experience in a sustainability/ESG or communications role within a public company. Proficiency in Excel and sustainability software platforms. Familiarity with ESG issues, rating frameworks, and key raters/rankers. Adaptable and eager to learn in the evolving sustainability landscape.
