Overview
Lead Infrastructure Engineer-Platform Automation Truist The Principal Platform Engineer partners with a wide cross-section of partners to create innovative and compelling experiences for Truist clients. Responsible for defining, championing, building, delivering, and measuring products/platforms and strategies for their segment. This role leads product management teams and focuses on building resilient, observable, and policy-compliant software systems that power mission-critical business functions. Technologies include Java, Python, Helm, Kubernetes, and event-driven architectures, delivering reusable software patterns with embedded controls to meet enterprise security, compliance, and risk management standards. The ideal candidate translates architectural vision into production-ready, scalable code with a governance- and automation-focused approach. Essential Duties And Responsibilities Performs problem tracking, diagnosis and root-cause analysis, replication, troubleshooting, and resolution for complex issues, including programming and debugging activities. Responds to issues in a timely manner by receiving and investigating incidents or service tickets. Analyzes trends with technical issues and develops recommendations for long-term improvements. Documents all relevant end-user interactions and steps taken to resolve incidents. Communicates status of issue resolution to internal customers; may engage and manage outside vendors. Applies in-depth knowledge of application support and best practices. Leads moderately complex projects and participates in larger initiatives; mentors teammates and may have people management responsibilities for a small team. Solves complex technical and operational problems and contributes to governance and automation efforts.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and five years of experience in development or application support or an equivalent combination of education and work experience. In-depth knowledge of information systems and ability to identify, apply, and implement best practices. Understanding of key business processes and competitive IT strategies. Ability to plan and manage projects and solve complex problems using best practices. Ability to provide direction and mentor less experienced teammates; ability to interpret and convey complex information.
Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and six years of experience or equivalent. Strong proficiency in Ansible, YAML, Jinja2 templating, and Linux administration. Solid understanding of REST APIs, Git, and containerization (Podman, Docker). Experience with RBAC, automation mesh, and credential management in AAP. Knowledge of networking, security hardening, and system performance tuning. Strong scripting experience (Python, Bash). Expertise with OpenTelemetry (Otel) including instrumentation, collector configuration, and pipeline design for traces, metrics, and logs. Background in distributed systems, cloud-native architectures, and Kubernetes, with ability to identify observability gaps across service meshes, APIs, and event-driven platforms.
Work Conditions
Physical: Sitting frequently 25% to 50% of the time; lifting up to 25 lbs. Visual/Audio/Speaking: Able to interpret client information on computer and communicate effectively in person and by phone. Manual Dexterity: Ability to use standard office equipment. Availability: Able to work all scheduled hours, including overtime as directed by management. Travel: Up to 25%.
