Job Summary
As a SDE II- Video Backend Services, you will play a crucial role in the design, development, and optimization of backend services that facilitate the delivery of video service and metadata to various clients. You will take on more complex tasks, including integration of backend services with external systems, performance optimization, and troubleshooting advanced technical issues. You will lead the development of key features, contribute to architectural decisions, and ensure that services are scalable, reliable, and efficient. This role requires a solid understanding of backend programming, network protocols, and database management, as well as the ability to work independently and collaboratively with cross-functional teams. You will mentor junior developers and demonstrate a proactive approach to problem-solving and delivering high-quality code that meets business needs and customer requirements. Responsibilities
End-to-End Development: Lead the design, coding, testing, and deployment of backend services and features that provide video services System Integration: Integrate backend services with external systems, ensuring seamless communication and data flow Optimization: Identify bottlenecks and optimize performance of backend services for better scalability and reliability Problem Solving: Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues related to network protocols, database performance, and service orchestration Mentorship: Guide and mentor Level 1 developers to help them navigate technical challenges Collaboration: Work with cross-functional teams, including CPE, Mobile, Web developers, network engineers, and product managers Quality Assurance: Participate in code reviews, enforce best practices, and ensure code quality and maintainability Qualifications
Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field 2-4 years of experience in backend development Certifications (optional): Google Cloud Certified Developer or Certified Kubernetes Application Developer (CKAD) Strong proficiency in one or more backend languages (Java, C++), including multi-threading, concurrency, and asynchronous programming Experience with design patterns (Singleton, Factory, Observer, MVC) Experience with Spring Framework (Spring Boot, WebMVC) Experience designing and developing RESTful APIs with authentication (e.g., OAuth), rate limiting, and error handling Understanding of microservices architecture and distributed systems Understanding of networking protocols such as TCP/IP and UDP At Optimum, our four core pillars are Taking Ownership, Upholding Transparency, Creating Community, and Demonstrating Expertise.
