Job Summary
The GIS Developer/Specialist is responsible for designing and developing custom GIS applications and tools to address specific business needs. This role involves utilizing GIS software and programming languages to create user-friendly interfaces for spatial data analysis and visualization. The GIS Developer/Specialist also designs, creates, and maintains spatial databases while ensuring data integrity and optimizing performance. Integration of GIS data with other systems, such as web applications, mobile apps, and enterprise solutions, is a key aspect of this role. Key Responsibilities Design and develop custom GIS applications and tools for spatial data analysis. Utilize GIS software and programming languages to enhance geospatial functionality. Create and maintain spatial databases to manage geographic data effectively. Optimize database performance and ensure data integrity. Integrate GIS data with other systems, including web applications and mobile platforms. Develop interactive web maps and geospatial applications using ESRI technologies. Troubleshoot and resolve GIS-related issues efficiently. Stay updated with the latest GIS technologies and best practices.
Skills & Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Computer Science, or a related field. Proficiency in GIS software such as ESRI ArcGIS, QGIS, or equivalent. Strong knowledge of spatial databases and database optimization techniques. Experience in developing interactive web maps and geospatial applications. Understanding of geospatial data formats, standards, and integration techniques. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with cloud-based GIS platforms and web mapping services. Familiarity with GIS API development and RESTful services. Certification in GIS technologies (e.g., ESRI Certified Developer). Knowledge of mobile GIS application development.
