Overview
CT Tech Trainee, Part Time at UC San Diego Health. This role supports the CT Imaging Department with patient preparation, operation of CT equipment, parameter adjustment, and adherence to radiation safety guidelines. The position involves ensuring patient safety and comfort, reviewing images for quality, and collaborating with radiologists and multidisciplinary teams in a dynamic academic healthcare setting. The role includes cross-training responsibilities across multiple UC San Diego Health locations (La Jolla, Hillcrest, and East Campus) and may require floating between sites depending on departmental needs. Responsibilities Prepare and position patients for CT procedures; operate CT equipment and adjust scanning parameters. Ensure patient safety, comfort, and effective communication throughout procedures. Review images for quality and accuracy; maintain accurate records. Follow radiation safety guidelines and participate in continuous learning, protocol development, and clinical activities. Collaborate with radiologists, physicians, and multidisciplinary teams; engage in high-acuity cases in a Level I trauma center and other clinical settings. Cross-train as a CT Technologist; potential to work across multiple campuses; comply with site-specific policies.
Minimum Qualifications
Graduate of a school of radiologic technology. California Radiologic Technologist of Radiography (CRT-R). Registered Technologist for Radiography issued by ARRT (R.T(R)(ARRT)). Venipuncture certification. BART or BLS at time of hire with commitment to obtain BART within six months of hire. Registered Technologist for Computed Tomography (ARRT R.T(CT)(ARRT)) or commitment to obtain within six months of hire. Thorough knowledge of radiological computerized systems and applications; understanding of PACS and RIS. Strong skills, knowledge, and abilities essential to perform duties successfully.
Preferred Qualifications
California Radiology Technologist of Fluoroscopy (CRT-F). Six months of hospital experience.
Special Conditions
Selected candidate will receive training on the day shift and transition to night shifts and possible weekends after training. Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.
Pay Transparency Act Annual Full Pay Range: $118,724 - $147,705 (pro-rated if appointment percentage
Hourly Equivalent: $56.86 - $70.74 Factors in determining compensation include experience, skills, education, licensure and certifications, and other business needs.
