We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical
Asset Analyst
to join our IT Asset Management team, with a strong focus on
Software Asset Management (SAM)
using
ServiceNow SAM Pro . This role is critical in ensuring software compliance, optimizing license usage, managing entitlements, and minimizing risk across the organization. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with
ServiceNow SAM Pro , a strong understanding of software licensing models, and a proactive approach to improving software asset lifecycle processes. Key Responsibilities
Operate and maintain the
ServiceNow SAM Pro
platform, including software discovery, normalization, license reconciliation, and reporting. Track, manage, and optimize the software asset lifecycle from procurement to retirement. Conduct regular audits and compliance checks to ensure adherence to licensing agreements and mitigate audit risk. Interpret software license terms (e.g., Microsoft, Adobe, Oracle, IBM) and apply entitlements correctly in SAM Pro. Analyze software usage data and identify opportunities for cost savings through re-harvesting, downgrades, or decommissioning. Collaborate with Procurement, IT Security, and Infrastructure teams to ensure alignment across hardware/software inventory and contract management. Maintain an accurate and up-to-date
software license inventory
and
CMDB
(Configuration Management Database) records. Generate dashboards and reports to provide actionable insights for stakeholders and leadership. Support software audits and vendor true ups with accurate data and documentation. Continuously improve SAM-related processes and documentation in accordance with ITIL best practices. Capable of performing software installs and vice-versa Required Qualifications
Bachelors degree in information technology, Business, or a related field; or equivalent work experience. 24 years of experience in Software Asset Management or IT Asset Management. Hands-on experience with
ServiceNow SAM Pro
(ServiceNow Certified Implementation Specialist for SAM is a plus). Solid understanding of software licensing models (per user, per device, subscription, etc.) and vendor-specific rules (Microsoft, Adobe, Oracle, IBM, etc.). Strong analytical and data management skills, with proficiency in Excel, SQL, or reporting tools. Familiarity with ITIL framework and best practices for IT Asset Management. Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to work independently or within a team. Preferred Qualifications
ServiceNow certifications (especially
SAM Pro
or
ITAM
modules). Experience with integration of SAM tools with procurement, contract, and discovery systems. Knowledge of other asset management tools (Flexera, Snow, etc.). Experience supporting software vendor audits and compliance activities.
