Position Summary

Our client is looking for an Operations Manager to join their team! This position is responsible for leading and optimizing all manufacturing operations in the foundry, casting, and machining areas of their facility. This includes managing production efficiency, safety, quality, and team performance.

The ideal candidate brings strong leadership experience in metal casting, CNC machining, and Lean manufacturing environments, with a hands-on approach to problem-solving and team development.

Key Responsibilities

Oversee daily operations in foundry, casting, and machining departments to ensure production targets for safety, quality, delivery, and cost are achieved.

Lead, coach, and develop department supervisors, team leads, and production staff.

Drive continuous improvement initiatives using Lean Manufacturing, 5S, and Kaizen methodologies.

Partner with quality, engineering, and maintenance teams to reduce downtime and optimize throughput.

Analyze production data and key performance indicators (KPIs) to identify and implement corrective actions.

Ensure compliance with OSHA safety regulations, environmental standards, and internal quality systems (e.g., ISO).

Manage and forecast labor, materials, and scheduling to meet customer demand and production capacity.

Champion a culture of accountability, cross-functional collaboration, and employee engagement.

Required Qualifications

7+ years of operations or plant management experience in a foundry, die casting, or machining environment.

Proven track record of leading teams and improving operations in a fast-paced manufacturing setting.

Deep understanding of casting processes (permanent mold, sand, or die casting), CNC machining, and secondary operations.

Proficiency in ERP/MRP systems and production reporting tools.

Strong organizational and communication skills.

Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing, Business, or related field .

Lean/Six Sigma certification is a plus.

Key Performance Metrics

Achievement of OEE, scrap, rework, and on-time delivery targets.

Safety record (incident rates, near misses, safety training completion).

Production efficiency and machine utilization improvements.

Employee retention, engagement, and skill development.

Cost savings through waste reduction and process improvements.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

This role is primarily based on the production floor and requires daily interaction with manufacturing teams.

Must be able to walk, stand, and occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.

Exposure to noise, heat, and manufacturing equipment.
