A Child Care Center Toddler Lead Teacher is responsible for the care, supervision and management of toddlers, ages 19 months to 3 years old, in accordance with the rules and regulations of the State of Ohio. The principal duties of the Toddler Lead Teacher include: conduct focused observations of children, develop action plans, carry out and evaluate the effectiveness of child development activities, ensure the safety and well-being of the children, maintain regular communication with parents, and contribute to the effective operation of the overall early care and education of young children. The Toddler Lead Teacher reports to the Site Supervisor in the child care center.
A Lead Teacher Must:
Be at least 18 years of age
Have at least one (1) year of experience working in an infant/toddler program and/or a certificate/degree in early childhood education or currently working towards the completion of one
Submit to background check
Be CPR, First Aid certified or obtain certification upon hire
Complete orientation and applicable trainings upon hire
Complete a physical and provide a physician’s documentation of immunizations
Meet all applicable Ohio State licensing regulations
Be mentally/physically capable of caring for a group of infants alone in a classroom
Possess a strong work ethic, be punctual, and have minimal absences
Have an awareness of the unique needs of infant/toddlers and have appropriate expectations of their abilities
Be able to kneel, bend, squat, lift, push, pull and play with the infants
Be available for full and/or part time employment
Have dependable transportation
Required Expectations:
Have an Associates’ Degree in Early Childhood Education and/or CDA and/or be near finishing a degree in Early Childhood Education
Be warm and nurturing with children
Be a positive role model for all caregiving staff and children
Be customer service oriented and professional
