Builds, enhances, reuses, contributes to, and identifies new software developer tools to support other programs and applications to create, debug, and maintain code for products. Uses open source when possible. Begin to develop skills in other tools outside areas of expertise. Identify internal tools and create tools useful for the product, determining if methods are applicable for the current solution. Share best practices and teach others about new tools and strategies. Contributes to the development of automation within production and deployment of a complex product feature. Run code in simulated or non-production environments to confirm functionality and error-free runtime for products with little to no oversight. Remain current in skills by staying abreast of developments that improve availability, reliability, efficiency, observability, and performance of products while driving consistency in monitoring and operations at scale. Apply best practices to reliably build code based on well-established methods. Follow best practices for product development and scaling to customer requirements, and meet scaling and performance expectations. Maintain operations of live service as issues arise on a rotational, on-call basis. Implement solutions and mitigations for complex issues impacting performance or functionality; review postmortems and share insights with the team. Act as a Designated Responsible Individual (DRI) and guide other engineers by developing and following the playbook, on-call monitoring for degradation, downtime, or interruptions. Alert stakeholders, restore systems, and escalate as needed within SLA timeframes. Drive efforts to reduce incident volume and provide broad resolutions. Drive efforts to integrate instrumentation for telemetry data on system behavior (performance, reliability, availability, usage, safety). Create telemetry outputs such as notifications or dashboards and sustain feedback loops for design improvements. Embodies Microsoft culture and values. Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years of technical engineering experience with coding in languages such as C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience. Other Requirements

Security Clearance Requirements: Active U.S. Government Top Secret Clearance with access to SCI based on SSBI with Polygraph. Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and government security screening requirements. Failure to maintain/obtain clearance may result in employment action. Clearance Verification: Successful verification of the stated security clearance prior to offer. Microsoft Cloud Background Check: Required to pass upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter. Citizenship & Citizenship Verification: Verification of U.S. citizenship is required for this role due to citizenship-based restrictions with government customers. Preferred/Additional Qualifications

4+ years of experience with PowerShell, C#, Python, Go or C++. Experience with large-scale distributed services with on-call responsibilities. Ability to influence broadly towards common goals and priorities. Ownership of end-to-end project lifecycle with solid project management skills. Salary: Software Engineering IC3 The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD 100,600 - 199,000 per year.
