Polaris, a global powersports leader, is seeking a Senior Software Engineer with deep expertise in XIL (e.g., HIL, SIL) testing methodologies and AI toolchain integration to join our XIL & Test Automation team. This role focuses on designing, building, and deploying scalable test automation solutions across multiple software validation teams. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in embedded systems validation, software architecture, and toolchain development, with a focus on integrating AI-based tools provided by external vendors to enhance test efficiency and coverage. They should be passionate about continuous improvement and intelligently applying new technologies to drive innovation. Responsibilities
Architect, develop, and maintain XIL-based test automation frameworks (HIL, SIL, MIL). Integrate AI-powered tools into existing test toolchains to improve validation workflows. Collaborate with internal and external teams to deploy test tools across software validation groups. Lead efforts in toolchain standardization and scalability across platforms and teams to support strategic objectives. Support embedded system validation through automated and manual testing strategies. Provide technical leadership and support to internal stakeholders. Drive continuous improvement in test coverage, reliability, and performance. Manage multiple project schedules and deliverables simultaneously. Effectively communicate strategy, plans, and progress across multiple organizations. Required Skills/Experience
BS or MS in Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field. 5+ years of experience in software engineering with a focus on test automation and embedded systems. Experience integrating AI/ML-based tools in software validation or automation workflows. Strong proficiency in XIL methodologies (HIL, SIL, MIL) and related tools (e.g., dSPACE, NI, Vector, tracetronic). Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, C/C++, and MATLAB/Simulink. Solid understanding of embedded systems, real-time operating systems, and communication protocols (CAN J1939/UDS, LIN, Ethernet). Excellent problem-solving, communication, and project management skills. Experience using requirements management tools (e.g., PTC RV&S, Codebeamer, Jama, etc.). Desired Skills/Experience
Strongly desired: experience with tracetronic ecu.test and test.guide products. Experience with cloud-based test automation platforms and CI/CD pipelines. Basic understanding of containerization, orchestration, and DevOps practices. Familiarity with automotive standards (e.g., ISO 26262, ASAM, etc.). Additional Responsibilities
Develop real-time simulations, plant models, or rest bus simulations. Design, maintain, and troubleshoot HIL test systems. Other duties as required. Compensation
The starting pay range for Minnesota is $110,000 to $151,000 per year. Individual salaries and positioning within the range are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, skills, and geography. While individual pay could fall anywhere in the range based on these factors, it is not common to start at the high end or top of the range. Qualifications
