Overview
A warm and welcoming family moving from London to the Park Slope/Cobble Hill area of NYC seeks a fabulous live-out after-school nanny.
The position is part-time with a likely schedule of 2-8pm, Monday through Friday.
Some flexibility around this would be appreciated, particularly during the initial period of settling into a new and very different set-up.
Responsibilities This is a big move for the family, and supporting two boys aged 4-years and 6-years transition into a new home, new schools and a completely new life will be the main focus of the role.
Responsibilities will include:
School and nursery pickups, and escorting children to/from activities and playdates
Providing a nurturing, safe and stimulating environment
Homework assistance and help with settling into new schools
Some after-school tutoring for the very bright older boy
Engaging the children in age-appropriate play and activities
Ensuring their physical, emotional and social well-being at all times
Preparing healthy, simple and fresh snacks and evening meal
Proactively researching fun activities, events, local social groups, and helping the children integrate into the local community
Child-related housekeeping, laundry, and organization
Setting and reinforcing boundaries in a firm but loving manner.
Some child-related errands
Some international and domestic travel
Limiting screen time and focusing on interactive, educational and outdoor play
General support for the whole family where appropriate
Requirements
Education or equivalent knowledge of the ages and stages of child growth and development
Readiness to help with light housekeeping and all tasks related to childcare (meal prep, cooking, organizing, laundry, etc.)
Degree educated, able to help with some tutoring if possible
High energy and active, able to keep up with and enjoy two very active young boys
Patient and calm personality, comfortable providing consistent, gentle boundaries while supporting the children as they adjust to their new normal
Empathetic and warm approach to the children's care
A real love for children and a genuine enjoyment in spending time with them
Not essential, but German-speakers would be appreciated!
Excellent communicator and native/fluent in English
Salary and Benefits
From $40/hr, depending on experience and education
