Business Development Specialist - Protective Packaging

Position Purpose: The Business Development Specialist will be the market and application expert for assigned product(s). The Business Development Specialist will actively pursue new business opportunities at both end user and distribution, coordinating with the Territory Managers and Regional Director of Sales within the respective territory to meet the assigned product revenue and net CM$ goals. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Act as the solution "expert" for the markets and applications for the assigned product. Act as the primary contact for protective packaging at all accounts within the assigned region. Be accountable for Revenue and Net CM$ quotas for the assigned product(s) within the territory, collaborating with the Industrial Sales Team, Division Product leaders, Product Management, Enterprise Solutions, and Systems/Service teams. Act as the business manager for the assigned territory, evaluating changes in business, reporting on market trends and competitor activities, and providing field feedback to product management and manufacturing facilities. Participate in 35 customer meetings per month, including 8 end-user meetings and 6 focusing on specific products. Prospect key end users within the assigned territory as directed by management. Develop and maintain a pipeline of opportunities in CRM to meet the annual budget. Support Distributor Sales Reps at the end user to close business. Assist Territory Manager to close end user business and distributor conversions. Manage prospects through the sales cycle to close. Coordinate with Territory Business Managers and Director of Sales to select appropriate distribution partners to service closed business. Partner with distributors to identify complex end user opportunities and appropriate solutions as directed by manager. Train Distributor Sales Reps on features, benefits, and application solutions of the product line. Be knowledgeable about IPG products, capabilities, and distribution, and communicate IPG value to customers. Provide guidance in client meetings regarding implementation, best practices, products and features, and partnerships. Promote IPG programs and product solutions to effectively sell the bundle within the region.

Essential Skills and Experience Must have a "hunter" mentality and competitive drive. BA or BS Degree required from an accredited university or college. Ability to develop effective relationships with customers at all levels of an organization. Ability to develop effective relationships with internal stakeholders. Proficient in Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, CRM and internal reporting tools (WebFocus or replacement). Experience in selling industrial packaging is a plus.
