The Chief Medical Officer is responsible for maintaining the highest standards in patient care, quality improvement, and staff development. POSITION SUMMARY: The Chief Medical Officer (CMO) manages the healthcare organization's clinical operations and ensures the effective and efficient delivery of accessible high quality medical care. The CMO provides direct medical oversight and provider supervision to reduce variation in care delivery. The CMO provides leadership development and identifies and implements training, compliance, and integration requirements. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Direct medical oversight and provider supervision to reduce variation in care delivery Provide leadership development and identify and implement training, compliance, and integration requirements Policy development: develop and implement clinical policies and guidelines to ensure the highest standard of care Clinical oversight: oversee clinical operations and ensure compliance with regulations and standards Performance analysis: review and analyze data to track performance and identify areas for improvement Budget management: participate in budget planning and management for medical-related costs Patient safety: ensure patient safety and satisfaction through the implementation of patient care services and processes Participate in hiring, onboarding, remediation, discipline and termination, as appropriate, of supervising physicians and advanced practice providers Direct oversight and accountability in completion of chart review documents and complaint review Render medical care to all patients who present to the Urgent Care and/or Primary Care on all assigned shifts Work at least 2 shifts per month at FastMed in either Urgent Care or Primary Care Develop and maintain clear, current understanding of clinic flow and the impact of new policies on staff and efficiencies Maintain first-hand knowledge of clinic locations and staffing Maintain and manage practice documentation standards and norms Determine whether providers and clinics have resources and skills to support new business opportunities Analyze and prepare clinical complaints reports quarterly or as scheduled for presentation to appropriate committees Analyze clinical dashboard statistics and share information, summary evaluation, and strategic solutions across leadership levels Stay aware of statewide or regional health concerns and alerts and communicate them clearly to clinics Identify risk management issues and collaborate with the Chief Compliance Officer toward resolution Review and sign off on credentialing documents for new hires and other documents requiring review by the practice's compliance program Aid in the development of onboarding programs and continuous quality improvement curriculum Assist in acquisition and integration programs for providers Lead the Quality Assurance Meeting to review patient care practices, identify issues, and develop strategies to improve care and patient safety Member of the Clinical Steering Committee making decisions on clinical workflows and EHR optimization Lead the Medical Advisory Board on company-wide decisions regarding medical care, efficiency, and initiatives (e.g., AI, billing and coding, Radiology use, telemedicine, and audits) Member of the MIPS Committee discussing quality metrics and initiatives to improve documentation Lead clinical efforts of the Epic conversion from on-site to cloud maintenance Advise on expanding Primary Care through hybrid Urgent Care and Primary Care locations Guide clinical decisions on Value Based Care advancement Oversee Occupational Medicine, Primary Care, and Urgent Care departments and their directors Collaborate with Infection Control to decrease infections, prevent disease spread, and improve outcomes Update the Board of Directors on clinical matters and lead initiatives requested by the board Lead clinical efforts regarding Joint Commission and FastMed recertification Other duties as assigned QUALIFICATIONS: Education (Required): Medical Degree (MD or DO) from an accredited medical school Completion of residency in Emergency Medicine or Primary Care (preferred) Experience & Requirements: Minimum 5 years of clinical post-residency experience in direct patient care, preferably Urgent Care, Emergency Medicine, or Primary Care At least 5 years in a management role with more than 5 direct reports Current unrestricted medical license Board certified or board eligible by the American Board of Medical Specialties in the respective specialty Familiarity with EHR/EMR systems Strong management, organizational, and interpersonal skills Ability to provide clinical leadership and guide medical staff Excellent communication skills to liaise between medical staff and administration Experience transforming a health care business to meet community needs and achieve aspirational goals Strategic planning experience Regulatory knowledge and compliance awareness Reporting to this Position:
