Summary:
The Director of Technology directs programs and services in the areas of administrative and instructional technology. The Director oversees and administers the functions and operations of the school district's Information Technology Systems and technology activities, integrating technology into District functions and education, assessing the effectiveness of the school district's technology infrastructure and security, providing recommendations regarding potential hardware and software upgrades, and maintaining the proper functioning of all computer systems.
Essential Functions: Defines, architects, and executes the technology strategic planning for operational and instructional technology projects both in terms of infrastructure requirements and end user functionality. Supervises all areas of technology including software platforms, hardware, systems administration, mobile and wireless, security, customer support services, telephone, and network infrastructure. Coordinates resources, timelines, and personnel for the effective implementation and maintenance of operational and instructional technology functions. Collaborates with the Directors of Curriculum, Elementary Education, Secondary Education, and Special Education to integrate technology effectively into the instructional program. Develops and implements effective online and blended learning options for students. Supervises the Technology Coordinators and provides overall support and management of all technology department staff. Develops, implements, and monitors the Technology Department budget for the operation of assigned programs and services. Assists in development of financial planning strategies to support the technology strategic plan including but not limited to managing the eRate process. Supervises all technology purchases and, when necessary, develops bid or RFP specifications for the purchase process. Coordinates instructional software purchases and implementation plans in collaboration with the curriculum supervisors. Develops and maintains effective relationships with vendors and consultants that support efficient, cost-effective services to the district. Provides leadership in the development and enforcement of technology policies and procedures, ensuring that they reflect current laws and technology practices. Provides leadership in the communication of technology initiatives with administration, staff, parents, students, school board, and community. Ensures that state and federal data requests are submitted in an accurate and timely manner including but not limited to PIMS submissions and OCR data collections. Plans and coordinates technology upgrades in support of building renovation projects. Participates in professional growth opportunities to remain current in business, instructional and network technologies. Implements professional growth opportunities for all technology staff to provide effective, efficient services to the district. Incorporates innovative new products and systems into district instruction and operations. Collaborates with technology colleagues in the county to share best practices and effective technology strategies. Attends Cabinet and K-12 meetings weekly. Perform other duties as assigned by the Superintendent and Chief Financial Officer. Education and/or Certification Required:
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field. Master's degree in a field related to Educational Technology, Information Systems, Management, or Leadership, preferred. PDE Instructional Technology Certificate or Principal, preferred. Experience Needed:
A minimum of 5 years of management/supervisory experience, preferably in an academic setting. Broad technical expertise across mixed systems and platforms, including Mac, Linux, Windows, and enterprise networking. The use and implementation of technology in a school setting, particularly in supporting instruction, are preferred. Successful training of others and serving as a resource in the use of technology. Experience using a network to store, retrieve, and disseminate files and documents to end-users. Software troubleshooting experience. Successful supervisory experience. Using the Relational Database System (i.e, Student Information System). Knowledge:
In-depth knowledge of, and ability to use, Google Suite and MS Office Suite. Knowledge of PC and MAC hardware and software. Knowledge of sound practices in network troubleshooting. Requisite Skills:

On-call availability outside of normal business hours, including weekends and evenings. Valid PA Driver's license and mode of transportation for travel throughout the district on a regular basis.
