Title: Utility Estimator

Location: Hybrid in Oakbrook Terrace, IL

Terms of Employment

• W2 Contract, 24 months

• This position is hybrid.

• The office is located in Oakbrook Terrace, IL.

Overview

Our client is seeking a Utility Estimator to prepare cost estimates and proposals for high-voltage electrical projects. This role requires a candidate to work on a team and have the ability to build detailed estimates from project diagrams, designs, or verbal scopes of work. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of design drawings and engineering prints and be able to calculate job requirements such as quantities, resource hours, and duration from design documents.

Responsibilities

• Analyze project plans, drawings, and specifications to prepare time, cost, materials, and labor estimates for high-voltage electrical projects.

• Conduct site visits and field walkdowns to assess site conditions and gather information for comprehensive pricing strategies.

• Identify and evaluate labor, material, and time requirements by studying proposals, blueprints, and other related documents.

• Build a high-level or detailed estimate from a project diagram, detailed design, or verbal scope of work.

• Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and other stakeholders to ensure accurate estimations and project execution.

• Prepare and present estimates by assembling and displaying numerical and descriptive information.

• Maintain and update cost databases to reflect current market conditions and pricing.

• Perform calculations to determine job requirements from design documents, including quantities, resource hours, and durations.

Required Skills & Experience

• 1-5 years of experience in construction estimating.

• Bachelor's degree in a Business, Finance, or Technical field.

• Experience with High Voltage Electrical Construction.

• Ability to read and understand construction drawings and blueprints.

• Proficiency in standard software applications, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Project.

• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

• Strong understanding of design drawings, detailed engineering, and construction prints.
