Description

Responsible for ensuring timely supply of materials, equipment, and services at the best price and quality while minimizing inventory and optimizing supplier performance. Supports GSM strategy deployment, supplier management, inventory control, and cost reduction initiatives.

Required Qualifications

Education:

Bachelor’s Degree preferred (technical field preferred, but not required)

Associate's degree minimum + relevant experience

Experience & Skills:

Plant or corporate buyer experience

Hands-on buyer experience (placing orders, MRP, stakeholder communication)

SAP experience

Experience in a matrix or cross-functional environment

Background in manufacturing, planning, quality, engineering, or supply chain

Knowledge of GSM processes/systems, global manufacturing, or cross-division work is a plus

Certifications such as C.P.M., CPSM, APICS, or Lean Six Sigma Yellow/Green Belt desirable

Role Purpose & Key Responsibilities:

Support GSM strategy development and execution

Maintain contribution metrics linked to cost reduction portfolio

Negotiate with suppliers and manage contracts

Manage supplier relationships, including audits

Maintain contractual documents (Supply Agreements, Pricing Agreements, NDAs, Certificates of Insurance, etc.)

Participate in commodity reviews and supply intelligence

Oversee inventory and storeroom operations where applicable

Act as GSM liaison between plants, materials, and quality

Recommend improvements to purchasing practices for compliance and efficiency

Serve as main contact for RTP invoicing issues

Participate in cross-functional teams for process improvement and cost reduction

Protect intellectual property and ensure supplier environmental compliance

Champion and enforce Global Buying Policy

Performance Metrics:

Contribution metrics, e-sourcing events, supplier quality/performance metrics

Shared objectives score %, strategic supplier % under contract/management

Transaction reduction, process simplification, inventory turns/days of supply
