Summary
Autry Grading is looking for an experienced estimator to work hand in hand with superintendents, general manager and office staff to prepare and submit turnkey and competitive bids for civil construction projects including but not limited to subdivisions, apartment complexes, shopping centers, public utility and highway.
This is not an
entry-level
position, serious applicants only with previous civil construction experience only.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Must be committed to providing and promoting a safe work environment
Ability to follow directions
Communicate with management, clients, engineers, subs and vendors to obtain pricing and prepare estimates
Understands and interprets drawings, specifications, and contract documents as required to price the project in order build it to the engineered design
Prepare grading models from client provided dwg files
Prepare change orders and submit for approval in a timely manner
Investigate site conditions and identify potential issues affecting the cost of the project
Work with office staff to transition project from proposal to contract to active project.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Estimating self-performed projects which typically range from 500,000 to 20 million dollars including pricing labor, equipment, subcontractor and material costs
Working knowledge of construction assemblies and all project phases
Ability to produce detailed, accurate estimates from conceptual and schematic drawings and AutoCad files
Ability to assess site exposures/construction risks and be able to appropriately analyze cost and reflect these in an estimate
Identify constructability issues through the estimating process
Identify and propose value-engineering alternatives
Ability to read, write and communicate effectively and work cohesively within a team environment
Working experience on Bid2Win software a plus
Working experience in AutoCad, especially Carlson Takeoff, a plus
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
1 year experience in site or utility construction preferably with estimating or management experience ;
Pass pre-employment drug screen and criminal background check;
Be able to provide valid documentation for the I-9 Immigration document;
Strictly adhere to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook;
Have the willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required;
Be at least 21 years of ;
Have a valid NC Drivers License with a good driving record;
