DAY ONE Early Learning Community is seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented, and mission-driven Development Assistant to support the Director of Private Philanthropy in executing fundraising and donor stewardship strategies that will drive organizational growth. This position is a key member of a small but mighty team focused on building sustainable revenue streams through private investment from individuals, foundations, and corporate partners. The Development Assistant will play a vital administrative and operational role in the development department, helping to manage donor data, coordinate fundraising activities, support grant and proposal submissions, and steward donor relationships. This is an exciting opportunity for a rising development professional who is passionate about early childhood education, equity, and community impact. Key Responsibilities Leadership Support and Coordination: Support Director of Private Philanthropy, Board Chairman and Executive Director in: development aligned scheduling and communications including: Maintaining a calendar of donor, prospect and Board related meetings. Coordinate effective communications of meeting follow-up actions and details informing further communications and germane to donor profiles. Support Director of Philanthropy and Director of Public Affairs and Communications in advocacy and external communications activities such as: Meetings with elected officials and related State, Federal and local agency personnel; Support create of materials for such meetings; Support communications with DAY ONE constituencies including families, the general public, elected officials, agency personnel and partnership community based organizations Administrative & Database Management Maintain and update donor and prospect records in the Bloomerang system Track and organize deadlines, proposals, reports, and donor communications Generate donor reports, acknowledgment letters, receipts, and other correspondence in a timely and accurate manner Prepare briefing documents, agendas, and meeting materials for donor-related meetings Support maintenance of development and fundraising content on the website and social media platforms Fundraising & Donor Stewardship Assist in the execution of annual fundraising campaigns (print and digital) Draft donor thank-you notes, acknowledgments, and follow-up emails Coordinate logistics for cultivation and fundraising events, including RSVPs, vendor coordination, and onsite support Support the creation of donor-focused materials, including presentations, proposals, and event collateral Grants Support Track grant proposal and reporting deadlines, ensuring timely submission Assist with the collection and formatting of materials needed for proposals and reports Maintain digital and physical grant files, including templates, attachments, and compliance documentation Communications Support Support production of newsletters, appeals, and donor updates in collaboration with the Communications team Ensure brand consistency across all development materials and campaigns Team Collaboration Work closely with the Director of Private Philanthropy to ensure efficient workflow and strategic alignment Attend and support internal staff meetings and retreats as needed Qualifications: DAY ONE seeks an individual with a passion for early childhood education and working in an impact-driven organization. This is a full time position of 40 hours per week. Experience in an executive or administrative assistant role; Excellent computer skills and a high level of proficiency in digital applications and systems, including Google Drive and Suite: Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; Bloomerang or similar donor database system; Canva; as well as the ability to learn new systems quickly. Ability to proactively identify issues and employ strong problem solving skills Excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills Serving as a steward and professional representative of the DAY ONE organization Ability to be flexible and adapt to changing priorities Excellent organization skills with an acute attention to detail Excellent time management skills Excellent written and verbal communication skills Enjoy working in a busy environment Understanding of and experience in the social impact sector Preferred: Experience with the Bloomerang donor database. Familiarity with fundraising, grant writing, or donor engagement best practices
