Job DescriptionJob DescriptionDescriptionAs an EMC Design Engineer, your core responsibility will be to own Impulse Space’s designs and strategies for EMC and regulatory compliance across all missions. You will work with RF hardware and software engineers, test engineers, and mission managers to ensure compliance with customer and industry standards, design EMI and EMS test setups, review RF and Avionics designs for EMC and desense, and perform pre-compliance lab testing of RF systems.
Responsibilities· Work with cross-disciplinary teams at Impulse to drive our RF compliance test needs, including but not limited to EMI, EMC, and PFD testing.· Contribute to design of fixtures for radiated and conducted EMI, EMS, mask, and power testing· Publish EMI environments to customers· Analyze data from radiated vehicle and subsystem tests· Provide RF inputs for regulatory license filings via analysis and test, including but not limited to PFD, PSD, mask, OWB, and power.· Work with ground segment engineers to incorporate ground performance specifications to EMC analysis and link budgets· Simulate vehicle and subsystem desense and EMI cases
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related technical field
Familiarity working with RF device emissions requirements, licensing laws and agencies, and test standards
RF or EE hardware development or testing experience
Hands-on experience solving EMI, EMS, SEM, stability, spurious, or harmonics issues
Familiarity with lab equipment such as Spectrum Analyzers, Network Analyzers, Power Meters, and Signal Generators.
Experience developing and presenting test plans and/or test reports
Experience with some form of radiated testing
Strong understanding of RF system parameters such as channel power, EVM, modulation, and bandwidth
Experience writing and documenting RF test procedures for use by other engineers and technicians
Skills and Experience
Familiarity with agencies and standards specifically related to satellite communications
Experience writing scripts for wireless systems or hardware testing infrastructure
Familiarity with testing for compliance with MIL-STD-461G and SMC-S-016
Experience in a startup or agile development environment
Experience debugging RF or EE hardware in the lab
Familiarity with RF simulation tools such as HFSS, CST, COMSOL, or others
Additional Information:
Compensation bands are determined by role, level, location, and alignment with market data. Individual level and base pay is determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on job-related skills, education, experience, technical capabilities and internal equity. In addition to base salary, for full-time hires, you may also be eligible for long-term incentives, in the
form of stock options , and access to
medical, vision & dental coverage
as well as
access to a 401(k) retirement plan .
