Job Description: Quality Engineer

Responsibilities:

Serve as the primary quality liaison for customers, handling quality complaints and feedback.

Use structured problem-solving tools such as 8D, 5Why, and Fishbone Diagrams to investigate and resolve issues.

Manage customer quality portals, ensuring timely response and resolution of concerns.

Monitor supplier quality performance and manage nonconformances via SCARs, 8Ds, and other corrective actions.

Participate in product and process design reviews to identify potential failure modes and support design improvements.

Collaborate with project teams to develop and execute quality plans throughout DV/PV stages.

Prepare and maintain quality documentation, including Control Plans, Process Flow Charts, and PFMEA.

Develop and maintain quality-related documents such as SOPs, inspection standards, and control plans.

Lead the Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) audit to ensure successful completion.

Support efforts to achieve and maintain IATF 16949 certification.

Supervision Received and Given:

Reports to the Project & Quality Manager.

No supervisory duties.

Mentors and supports other team members.

Educational Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related Engineering field.

Qualifications / Experience:

3+ years of experience in quality engineering within the automotive industry, preferably supporting OEM or Tier 1 projects.

Proficient in structured problem-solving methodologies such as 8D, 5Why, and Ishikawa (Fishbone) Diagram.

Strong analytical and data interpretation skills; able to drive improvement through Cpk/Ppk studies, KPI monitoring, and root cause analysis.

In-depth knowledge of automotive quality systems and tools, including IATF 16949, APQP, PPAP, FMEA, MSA, and SPC.

Effective communicator with strong interpersonal skills, capable of working cross-functionally with engineering, program, and supply chain teams.

Experience:

At least 5 years of experience working with production/manufacturing processes.

Experience with process improvement methodologies such as Lean or Six Sigma is a plus.

Ability and willingness to travel domestically or internationally (less than 20%).

Visual Acuity:

Activities include preparing and analyzing data, viewing a computer monitor, reading, and visual inspection of parts.

Travel:

Occasional travel (less than 20%).
