Controls Engineer Ii

Selectek is seeking a Controls Engineer II to join a leading Systems Integration and I&C Construction firm specializing in industrial automation and controls. The position is responsible for designing control system details, configuring instrumentation, and implementing, testing, documenting, and training on industrial control systems. Key Responsibilities: Collaborate with project managers and estimators to assess potential projects and submit proposals. Interpret diagrams and documentation while communicating with customers to understand objectives and preferences. Develop overall architecture and communication strategy between control system elements. Define and document control system functionality with customers and stakeholders. Develop BOMs, IO lists, and control panel requirements. Act as technical lead for small projects, including building PLC and HMI templates. Program PLCs using ladder logic, function block, and structured text languages. Create human-machine interfaces (HMI) and hardware/software test plans. Develop and execute training plans for operations and maintenance personnel. Coordinate with installation management to ensure documented processes are followed. Test installed systems for functionality, troubleshoot technical issues, and resolve software/hardware interface problems. Train customers on system integration software use and operations. Mentor and train less experienced team members. Required Qualifications: Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechatronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, related discipline, or equivalent industrial controls experience from a Technical College. 4 years of industrial controls experience in the architectural, engineering, or construction (AEC) industry or a similar field. 4 years of PLC programming experience. Experience with ABB 800xa. Proficiency in Allen Bradley equipment and systems. Knowledge of PLC programming, including ladder logic, function block, and structured text. Familiarity with Ethernet/IP networking and HMI systems. Preferred Qualifications: 6 years of industrial controls experience in the AEC industry or a similar field. Proficiency with AutoCAD Autodesk software. About the Company: This role is with a nationally recognized Systems Integration and I&C Construction firm established in 1991.
