Chardon Custom Polymers Site EHS & S Manager (TE-EHS Analysist 5-1) The successful candidate will provide leadership in driving continuous improvement in Environment, Health, Safety & Sustainability (EHS&S) performance and risk reduction. This role will provide technical expertise across all functions to ensure a compliant and safe workplace for all employees, visitors, and contractors. Job Responsibilities Build relationships across the campus to promote continuous EHS & S improvement, employee & leadership engagement, and a proactive compliance & risk-focused EHS culture. Manage EHS & S metrics, reports, permits, and other documents as required by regulatory agencies and corporate management. Prepare and communicate EHS & S performance reports for internal campus, global and external stakeholders. Perform EHS risk assessments as required (e.g., Safety Risk Assessments, PPE Hazard Assessments, IH Qualitative Assessments, etc.). Lead EHS & S projects on-site as required and partner with cross-functional teams. Ensure EHS & S programs comply with applicable government regulations, business technical standards, and industry best practices. Promote EHS compliance and risk reduction through detailed EHS programs, leadership participation & engagement, employee training, inspections, and auditing. Maintain site permits, licenses, and certificates. Manage the EHS Event reporting, investigation, & communication program in accordance with company requirements. Fully implement Serious Injury & Fatality Prevention Program (SIFP) that includes recognition & reaction to event precursors. Develop and manage the EHS budget. Represent the company at audits and site visits by the local authorities and customers. Implement a focus on leading EHS indicators such as unsafe conditions and behaviors. Conduct formal and systematic reviews of facility operations and activities to ensure compliance with environmental regulations and company policies related to CAA, CWA, RCRA, TSCA, SARA, etc. and applicable city, county, and state regulations. Create and drive action plans to implement identified corrective actions. Conduct formal and systematic reviews of facility operations and activities to ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies related to OSHA, OHDOL, Machine Guarding, LOTO, Work at Height, Powered Industrial Vehicles, Industrial Hygiene, Confined Space Entry, Event Root Cause Analysis & Emergency Preparedness. Create and drive action plans to implement identified corrective actions. Engage with third-party regulators for compliance assurance, periodic reporting, and inspections, as needed. Ensure site EHS & S programs are aligned with business unit, segment and enterprise-level strategies. Routinely monitor regulatory changes to ensure continued compliance with upcoming changes in federal, state, and local rules and regulations. Provide regular reports regarding compliance status, the cost of compliance and the results of audits and inspections to the plant leader, business unit EHS&S director and segment or enterprise leaders as necessary.
Qualifications
Degree in EHS or related field required. 5+ years EHS experience in heavy manufacturing industry with significant regulatory oversight required with at least 2 years as a site EHS Manager. Professional safety or environmental certification preferred.
Key Requirements
Experience in hazardous waste management, stormwater, wastewater, air compliance, chemical management reporting, SPCC plan coordination, EPCRA reporting and emergency response coordination. Experience in a variety of technical safety disciplines such as machine safety, LOTO, confined space entry, working at height, powered industrial vehicles. Excellent leadership, people skills and verbal/written communication skills. Able to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization. Ability to balance multiple competing priorities, make risk-based decisions, & pivot quickly when priorities shift. Computer skills, including proficiency in using common word processing software, Excel, database applications, presentation software and email. Experience implementing an EHS management system within a manufacturing setting.
