META
Summary:
At Meta, we’re building the future of human connection through groundbreaking technology. Our mission is to invent and develop the next generation of experiences that will redefine how people interact, communicate, and explore the world. As an Opto-Mechanical Engineer in our research organization, you will play a pivotal role in advancing AR/MR display technologies. You will contribute to the creation of advanced system concepts and drive the design and execution of novel hardware solutions. In this role, you’ll collaborate with experienced engineers, scientists, and leaders—helping to define the cutting edge of AR/MR.We’re seeking candidates with a proven track record in designing and developing opto-mechanical systems, expertise in CAD modeling, and hands-on experience with optics bench setups. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to design, develop, and build advanced optical systems for next-generation AR/MR applications.
Required Skills:
Display Systems Opto-ME Responsibilities:
Design and build engineering prototypes for AR/MR systems, ranging from single units to small batches
Develop mechanical and opto-mechanical components and assemblies using CAD tools
Collaborate within cross-functional teams—including optical, mechanical, electrical, software, and firmware engineering—to achieve prototype objectives
Partner with relevant stakeholders to ensure prototypes meet functional and design requirements
Coordinate procurement of parts and manage vendor relationships for prototyping activities
Perform CAD modeling and simulation for mechanical and opto-mechanical systems
Construct and maintain complex CAD models integrating mechanical, optical, and electrical components
Model and optimize optical systems for integration into prototypes
Assemble, test, and troubleshoot opto-mechanical and optical systems, including prototypes and laboratory setups
Manage the end-to-end prototype development cycle: design, fabrication, assembly, and testing
Document bill of materials (BOMs), assembly procedures, and test results for prototypes
Capture and share lessons learned and best practices to inform future projects
