amfAR, The Foundation for AIDS Research, is seeking a Director, Integrated Marketing. amfAR is dedicated to ending the global AIDS epidemic through innovative research. With the freedom and flexibility to respond quickly to emerging areas of scientific promise, amfAR plays a catalytic role in accelerating the pace of HIV/AIDS research and achieving real breakthroughs. amfAR-funded research has increased our understanding of HIV and has helped lay the groundwork for major advances in the treatment and prevention of HIV/AIDS. Since 1985, amfAR has invested more than $635 million in its programs and has awarded more than 3,800 grants to research teams worldwide. PRIMARY FUNCTIONS: The Director, Integrated Marketing is responsible for strengthening the amfAR brand, supporting communications and marketing for gala benefit events, fundraising, and research programs. Overseeing a team responsible for digital and print communications, website management, and social media, the Director brings a passion for storytelling and a strong digital-first mindset. The role works closely with the VP and Director of Public Information to develop and disseminate messaging that is consistent with, and advances, institutional goals and objectives. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Oversee integrated marketing efforts, including email, social, web, content and storytelling initiatives, as well as develop organization’s editorial direction. Outputs include newsletters, issue briefs, print/digital collateral, video, and other assets. Ensure marketing/communications and fundraising are aligned. Draft and produce multichannel campaigns and content, leveraging compelling imagery, short-form video, creative copywriting. Identify and manage implementation of new social content and advertising opportunities. Effectively position amfAR with key audiences and execute performance marketing campaigns (programmatic digital/social, email, etc.) to raise awareness and achieve fundraising goals. Partner with creative team to align messaging and campaign execution. Monitor and analyze performance analytics, traffic and engagement to inform strategy, iterate quickly and maximize campaign effectiveness. Collaborate with Philanthropy, Events and Research Departments, among other departments, to develop and manage the integrated marketing calendar, determining key moments and messaging priorities throughout the year, driving alignment across all paid, owned and organic touchpoints. Raise the visibility and awareness of amfAR’s lifesaving research program, positioning the organization at the forefront of scientific innovation. Collaborate with research and public policy departments to translate insights into compelling editorial and video content. Develop a digital first strategy and culture for breaking news/rapid response. Performs any additional duties assigned by the VP and Director of Public Information. QUALIFICATIONS A bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing or a related field and a minimum of 7-10 years of progressive experience in the field. Background with a health-related organization or non-profit preferred but not required. Leadership experience overseeing campaign management, market analysis, audience segmentation and campaign performance metrics. Exceptional writing, proofreading, and editing skills, with the ability to adapt to the organization’s narrative tone and translate scientific/medical info into clear communications points. Ability to juggle priorities and maintain control of multiple projects. Experience with email marketing, advertising platforms, and Google analytics. Work with Salesforce a plus.
