Description: Merryvale Vineyards, a world renowned, family owned, ultra-premium winery, is excited to announce a search for an Events Manager within the Direct-to-Consumer team. The Events Manager is responsible for the coordination and execution of events, outreach sales, marketing of our event spaces, and driving results for the department. This role is directly responsible for the success and growth of events and event sales at all Merryvale properties, including but not limited to the world-famous Merryvale Cask Room.
Summary of Duties Event Sales & Client Relationship Management
Manages Events department with sales and client engagement as number one priority
Represents the winery and Events department in a highly professional manner
Cultivates existing relationships with clients and partners for increased events & wine sales
Exceeds all annual event sales, wine sales, wine club sign-ups, and customer data collection goals for the Events Department
Responsible for all outreach and outbound sales for Events Department – with focus on development of corporate and private client relationships in short and long term
Serves as point-person for all events inquiries; responds promptly, professionally, and efficiently to inquiries
Partners with other departments within the company to develop wine club experiences that deliver on-going loyalty and engagement for all wine club members
Coordinates collateral and digital assets for events sales and outreach programs
Reviews pricing and manages proformas for all events on an ongoing basis – including benchmarking analysis across winery, restaurants, and hotel partners
Events Department Management & Oversight
Executes all on-site events at Merryvale properties – including but not limited to the following event areas: consumer, wine club, corporate, private parties, trade and marketing
Develops a detailed plan for executing each event and communicates plan to event staff
Works with vendors to ensure rentals are booked in a timely manner; communicates to customer, staff, and other impacted departments
Responsible for recruitment, training, development, and scheduling of full-time and on-call events staff members
Develops and implements highest-level of service standards for events and event staff
Coordinates schedule for all on-site events at Merryvale – communicates this information across entire company with particular consideration for impact on facility and other departments
Maintains and cultivates relationships with all events vendors for increased profitability and ROI on all events
Responsible for communication of brand identification points throughout all events
Conduct on site visits for potential customers (i.e. corporate, private, etc.) as needed
Attend DMC meetings to build & nurture relationships
Partner Relationship Management
Understands and communicates Merryvale’s brand position and seeks event opportunities to build awareness of the brand in local markets
Expand Merryvale’s footprint and relationships within the corporate event space
Works with sales and tasting managers to execute outreach and partnerships opportunities for hotels, restaurants, caterers, food trucks, etc.
Responsible for coordination of DTC marketing and sales programming calendar – specifically all on-site marketing/winery events
Weekly & Monthly Reporting – Financial Planning & Analysis
Keeps a detailed calendar of all events, with a particular emphasis on booking status, revenue, and other customer requests to effectively plan and deliver on management and company expectations
Sends out weekly summary recaps of event department business
Develops and maintains all documentation for events SOPs as well as necessary financial reporting
Captures changing needs of business in all reporting documents (qualitative & quantitative)
Merchandising
Keeps the tasting room stocked and visually appealing with appropriate merchandise for sale to visitors
Manages the ordering of all merchandise items and maintains a vendor contact list
Updates sales database as needed with new merchandise, pricing, etc., working across departments to ensure efficient ordering and displaying process
Performs inventory counts on a monthly basis or as needed
Qualifications
Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
Professional demeanor and leadership presence that inspires others to grow themselves and the business
Self-Starter mentality and work ethic necessary to grow the current state of the business for the winery
Passion for wine, food and the winery country lifestyle
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Proven sales management skills and track record of success
Excellent attention to detail and ability to anticipate customer needs
Strong Knowledge of MS Office Suite
WineDirect and/or Commerce7 experience
Ability to work a flexible schedule including weekends
Bachelor’s Degree (recommended)
Minimum 5-7 years’ experience in winery or restaurant management/operations
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. (wine cases, tables, supplies).
Ability to stand for extended periods and move throughout the tasting room and outdoor service areas.
Ability to bend, stoop, climb stairs, and reach overhead as necessary.
