Overview
The Area Supervisor is a member of the Store Leadership who is responsible for a specific, assigned area of the Store as well as the general operations and supervision of the Store when functioning as the Manager on Duty. Area Supervisors are responsible for opening and closing the Store, supervising Associates, and maintaining a friendly, easy to shop environment. They ensure proper merchandise presentation, and maintain a clean work area at all times. Area Supervisors are also responsible for executing and supervising Company operational processes as needed. Maintaining Safe & Secure Environments:
Understands safety as the number one priority and practices safe behaviors everywhere. Maintains awareness on the sales floor to create a safe and secure shopping environment. Reports unsafe conditions to Store Leadership. Responsible for building security including entry/exit control, EAS devices daily checks, Cash Office security, armored carrier pickups, and register area. Removes clutter and ensures clear egress to emergency exits. Responsible for Customer safety including accident prevention and emergency procedures. Tests fire alarm systems as scheduled and responds to after-hours alarms when requested. Customer Service:
Treats customers, Associates, and leaders with respect. Demonstrates courtesy, friendliness, and professionalism at all times. Recognizes Associates using Company recognition programs. Personal and Store Brand:
Represents and supports the Company brand at all times. Maintains a professional appearance and ensures all Associates adhere to the Company Dress Code. Keeps all areas clean, well-maintained, and merchandised to standard. Responsible for daily trash removal. General Merchandising:
Ensures recovery, sizing and markdowns are completed to Company standards; receives merchandise when needed; processes merchandise with urgency; handles non-merchandise inbound deliveries; maintains cleanliness and organization of Stockrooms; assists with placing merchandise on the sales floor; secures back-stock; supports floor moves and signing; assists with re-wraps as needed. Loss Prevention:
Understands and complies with Loss Prevention programs; maintains a strong Customer service presence to deter loss; safeguards confidential information. Ensures Public View Monitor (PVM) system is maintained; conducts code inspections; follows Company Best Practices to maximize productivity and minimize steps. Front End Supervision and Operations:
Ensures Associates follow Company standards at the Front End; manages line pace to expedite Customer wait time; trains on cash registers and shortage control policies; manages break schedules; ensures equipment and supplies are available; ensures go-backs are scanned, tagged, and ticketed; promotes the “Scan and Bag” practice. Fitting Rooms:
Maintains cleanliness of fitting rooms; audits garment tags; ensures go-backs are properly tagged and scanned as needed. Administrative Duties as Assigned by Store Manager:
Manages cash pulls and bank deposits; handles Front End controls and related policies; supports payroll administration and scheduling; performs other duties as assigned by Store Manager. Qualifications and Skills
Excellent verbal communication skills; English fluency. Prior customer service and supervisory experience preferred. Familiarity with point-of-sale equipment and applications. Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments. Ability to work evenings and weekends. Physical Requirements
Ability to use all store equipment; stand/walk for up to 100% of shift; bend, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach and stoop; occasionally push, pull, and lift more than 25 lbs. Ability to use janitorial equipment and ladders as needed. Supervisory Responsibilities
