Assistant Safety Program Manager Utility-Scale Solar
The Assistant Safety Program Manager supports the implementation, monitoring, and continuous improvement of safety programs across our utility-scale solar construction and operational sites. This role works closely with site teams, contractors, and the corporate safety team to ensure a safe working environment and compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local safety regulations. Key Responsibilities Assist in managing the company-wide safety program, including site audits, training programs, and compliance initiatives. Conduct regular safety inspections of solar construction and operations sites to identify hazards and ensure adherence to safety protocols. Support the development, review, and enforcement of Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), Safe Work Plans, and toolbox talks. Help investigate incidents and near-misses, support root cause analysis, and assist with the implementation of corrective actions. Coordinate and deliver safety orientations and site-specific safety training to employees, contractors, and visitors. Maintain and report safety metrics, documentation, and incident logs as required by the company and regulatory agencies. Assist in emergency preparedness and response activities, including drills and plan reviews. Stay current with OSHA regulations, environmental guidelines, and industry best practices in solar and utility-scale construction safety. Provide on-site safety leadership and foster a culture of safety awareness and accountability across teams.
Qualifications
Associate or Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, Construction Management, or related field preferred. 3+ years of relevant safety experience in construction, utility, or renewable energy projects. Working knowledge of OSHA standards (1926 & 1910), NFPA, and environmental compliance requirements. OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety Certification required. Strong interpersonal and communication skills; able to lead safety discussions and training. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); experience with safety management software a plus. Ability to travel regularly to remote project sites and work in outdoor conditions.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with utility-scale solar projects or large-scale construction environments. CPR/First Aid certified. Familiarity with environmental permitting, stormwater management, and hazard communication standards.
