Resident Engineer

will work daily with the customer and is expected to have expertise on networking products deployed or to be deployed within the customers network, providing technical and operational support on network issues, ongoing certification, and testing efforts. This role is part of a larger Advanced Services team that supports the customer globally and provides post-sales support for networking products. Location

Middletown, NJ Expected to be on the client site 3 times a week. Responsibilities

Provide technical support to understand the customers network design, implementation, support processes, and procedures to help design a sustainable network. Conduct information gathering workshops with the Customer to understand existing network design and technical requirements for new designs. Carry out testing of new tools, features, and functionality in laboratory environments and help develop plans to implement and verify operation in live networks. Test patches and fixes to operating software in pre-production test networks and in live networks as deployment plans dictate. Hold technology workshops with the customer to discuss equipment and network problems and provide case status updates, including risks, workarounds, and solutions. Support design and planning of Juniper MX, PTX, QFX, EX series, and related solutions within the customers network. Support ongoing best-practice policies for networking product applications used by the customer. Collaborate with other Resident Engineers to share lessons learned and minimize risk during major network upgrades or changes. Develop secondary skills in other products within the network portfolio. Competencies

Strong interpersonal and customer-facing skills with the ability to communicate project status and risk. Ability to work independently and in a team, manage multiple projects, and remain calm under pressure. Trend analysis to deliver efficient solutions; understanding of IP service provider network protocols. IP/Routing experience (OSPF, ISIS, BGP, MPLS-TE, RSVP, LDP, IPv6, Routing Policy). Routing protocol operation, migration, and scaling mechanisms; routing policies at BGP peering points. VPNs and tunneling technologies (MPLS, EVPN, L3VPN, VPLS). Focal Technologies

Cloud architecture experience; JUNOS CLI across MX, QFX, EX series; knowledge of BGP and route reflector topologies. Ability to communicate effectively with internal JTAC, Escalation and Engineering teams and with customers. Scripting skills (Slax, Python); database experience is a plus. Minimum Qualifications
