Search Solution Group is seeking an Accounting Manager on behalf of our client, a leading manufacturer and distributor of chemicals and ammunition. This position plays a key role in overseeing cost accounting and controlling functions related to materials and energy (M&E), including cost of sales, raw material and energy spending, capital expenditures, working capital, and productivity. The ideal candidate will bring both strategic and operational accounting expertise, supporting multiple sites and driving financial performance through accurate reporting, insightful analysis, and cost optimization initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead cost controlling activities across raw materials, energy, capital expenditures, and productivity
- Support annual financial planning and oversee site accounting activities
- Own the standard cost-setting process for M&E
- Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes for the Chlor Alkali business
- Conduct account reconciliations and variance analysis
- Drive estimate and budgeting processes, compiling and presenting management reports
- Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP, internal policies, and audit requirements
- Maintain and test robust financial controls to meet audit and compliance standards
- Collaborate with manufacturing teams to analyze and recommend cost savings initiatives
- Mentor and develop staff, fostering high performance and professional growth
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting required
- Master's degree in Accounting or MBA preferred
- Minimum 8 years of cost accounting experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment
- Experience with GAAP, SOX compliance, general ledger systems, and auditing practices
- Proven leadership experience, including working with senior management to drive financial strategy
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Strong analytical and reporting skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- CPA or CMA certification preferred
- In-depth understanding of cost accounting, financial reporting, and compliance requirements
- Familiarity with ERP systems; SAP experience preferred
- Strategic thinking and attention to detail
- Ability to lead, motivate, and develop high-performing teams
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Collaborative approach to cross-functional leadership
