Symbotic
Senior Platform Engineer
With its A.I.-powered robotic technology platform, Symbotic is changing the way consumer goods move through the supply chain. Intelligent software orchestrates advanced robots in a high-density, end-to-end system reinventing warehouse automation for increased efficiency, speed, and flexibility. What We Need
We are seeking a Senior Platform Engineer with deep expertise in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and automation to join our Software Platform Engineering team. In this role, you will lead the design, development, and operationalization of scalable, secure, and resilient infrastructure frameworks and automation pipelines. You will collaborate across software and hardware teams to enable fast, reliable, and consistent environments that power Symbotic's mission-critical systems. What You'll Do
Design and implement infrastructure using IaC tools (Terraform, Pulumi, etc.) to support development, staging, and production environments across cloud and on-prem platforms. Develop and manage automation frameworks to streamline infrastructure provisioning, configuration management, monitoring, and CI/CD processes. Deploy and manage cloud-native systems using Kubernetes, Helm, and other orchestration tools. Collaborate with software engineers, DevOps, and security teams to define and enforce infrastructure standards, best practices, and compliance requirements. Improve system observability by integrating monitoring, alerting, and telemetry tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, FluentD). Lead efforts to automate environment setup and teardown, reducing manual intervention and human error. Drive the adoption of GitOps principles and tools (Argo/Flux CD, Spacelift, OpenTofu) to manage infrastructure and platform changes. Serve as a technical mentor to junior engineers and contribute to knowledge-sharing within the team. Evaluate new tools and technologies to evolve Symbotic's platform engineering capabilities. What You'll Need
Minimum of 7 years of experience in Platform Engineering, DevOps, or SRE roles, with a strong focus on automation, configuration management, DevOps tooling, and infrastructure as code. Expert in Terraform, Ansible, or similar tools for infrastructure provisioning and configuration management. Solid experience with CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitHub Actions, ArgoCD) and cloud platforms (GCP, Azure). Deep understanding of networking, container orchestration (Kubernetes), and Linux system administration. Strong experience in Rust, Go, Shell Scripting, or Python. Familiarity with GitOps workflows and version-controlled infrastructure deployments. Experience supporting secure, high-availability, and scalable environments for large-scale distributed, embedded, and platform systems applying security principles such as Zero Trust and OWASP. Experience in hybrid environments (cloud + on-premise). Background in high-throughput systems or real-time data pipelines. Previous experience in a regulated or mission-critical industry (e.g., manufacturing, logistics, or autonomous systems). Our Environment
Up to 10% of travel may be required. Employees must have a valid driver's license and the ability to drive and/or fly to client and other customer locations. The employee is responsible for owning a credit card and managing expenses personally to be reimbursed on a bi-weekly basis.
