Onboard new VTH technical staff, create and deliver instructional content, and monitor and manage staff skill assessments. Develop service-specific competency lists in coordination with service chiefs and existing service technical staff. Ensure new staff members complete the required Virginia Tech employee training and facilitate service-specific orientation and skill development. Provide patient care and assist in areas of the Veterinary Teaching Hospital (VTH). Promote wellness and wellbeing initiatives within the VTH. Serve as a liaison to regional LVT training programs to identify, develop, and sustain technical staff recruiting opportunities. Communicate updates and/or changes to policies and procedures as they relate to technical staff. Qualifications
Licensed in the Commonwealth of Virginia as a Veterinary Technician (LVT). Minimum 5 years of experience working in a veterinary clinical setting. Highly developed clinical technical skills to include surgery, radiographs, and emergency care. Outstanding organizational, communication and interpersonal skills. Preferred Qualifications
Prior experience in a supervisory or leadership capacity. Experience working with large animals (equine, bovine, porcine). Experience working in a complex, multi-service organization. Position Details
Pay Band: 4 Salary: Starting at $44,192; to commensurate with experience Overtime Status: Non-Exempt; Eligible for overtime Appointment Type: Restricted Hours per week: 40+ Review Date: September 17, 2025 About Virginia Tech
