The Idaho State Tax Commission is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Technical Records Specialist 3 (TRS3) to join our Revenue Operations Division. This position will serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in Business and Individual Income Tax processing and will play a key role in supervising and training temporary staff during tax drives, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in return processing, and supporting system testing and process improvements throughout the year.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys training others, managing seasonal staff, performing quality assurance, and contributing to process improvement initiatives within state government.
The position is in the Boise Office in the Chinden Campus, 11321 West Chinden Blvd, Building 2. A compensation analysis will be completed for the selected candidate.
Key Responsibilities
Supervise, train, and mentor temporary staff during seasonal tax drives.
Develop, update, and deliver training materials, manuals, and procedure guides.
Manage timecards, scheduling, performance, and daily workflow of temporary staff.
Conduct quality assurance reviews of temporary staff work and provide feedback.
Serve as a Subject Matter Expert for Business and Individual Income Tax in system upgrades, testing, and process flows.
Process income tax returns and maintain production accuracy standards during non-peak seasons.
Maintain and update procedures for temporary staff to reflect system and legislative changes.
Participate in hiring events including interviewing, onboarding, and orientation of seasonal employees.
Collaborate with Stakeholders to ensure consistent, efficient processes.
*Minimum Qualifications:
Some knowledge of supervisory practices.
Experience:
records management;
interpreting, applying or explaining state or federal laws, rules, and policies;
researching and reviewing legal documents for compliance with laws and to identify and resolve complex issues (e.g. court orders, contracts, ownership, deeds, trusts, tax returns);
creating correspondence and documents using word processing software.
