Job Summary:

Teledyne FLIR is looking for a career Sr. Software Engineer with industry experience to join our Surveillance team. This team, along with a sibling location in Victoria, BC, is focused on delivering military grade software and hardware solutions in the defense and border security markets. With a 20 plus year history of delivering successful projects, this small team of developers has built a diverse customer base which includes some of the biggest governmental organizations and global companies. As defense and security needs continue to grow, the future is looking good and we are looking for strong software professionals to join us.

This position focuses heavily on the Microsoft platform with a focus on .NET server-side technologies with some desktop skills as well. This opportunity is for the professional who has skills and proven ability to lead software initiatives, yet still write code to stay current because that is what they enjoy most. Not only will this individual be able to work through challenging technical problems, but will also integrate well within a team environment. Written and spoken communication skills must be of the highest level and used frequently to proactively identify risks and communicate technical details to stakeholders and team members. The ideal candidate will have 15+ years of experience shipping production software in consumer, enterprise, or military environments. In addition to client-server and distributed architectures, experience with front end UI, middle layer, and threading is highly desirable.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

Deliver high quality software by working closely with a cross-functional team of software developers, quality assurance personnel, product managers, and project managers.

Primary duties are focused on design, implementation, testing, and defect resolution phases of software development.

Job Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree required, Master's Degree strongly preferred, ideally in computer science, software engineering, or equivalent engineering degree.

15+ years of experience delivering consumer or enterprise software on the Microsoft Windows platform in a technical leadership role.

Experience developing highly performant application architecture and user experiences.

Experience with a diverse set of internet protocols including HTTP, UDP, TCP, SSL, and video protocols.

Comfortable with asynchronous multi-threaded programming paradigms, especially .NET async/await patterns.

Linux experience.

Languages: C# and C++ beneficial.

Technologies: .NET Core, Microservice architectures, WPF, REST, Websockets, NoSQL, LINQ, JSON.

Object oriented design.

Distributed architectures and design including microservices and micro front-ends.

Experience with agile and/or lean processes and techniques.

Experience with industry standard tools for source control and team collaboration.

Able and willing to travel approximately 30% domestic and international for sales demonstrations and customer installations.

Strong communication skills and attentive to detail.
