PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Gunstock Mountain Resort in Gilford, New Hampshire is looking for an experienced, service-oriented Lift Mechanic to join our Mountain Operations team. Located in the Winnipesaukee Lakes Region, Gunstock has been creating memorable outdoor adventures for guests of all ages since 1937. As a Lift Mechanic, you will work with a team of technicians to ensure the continual repair, maintenance, and safe operation of Gunstock’s 8 aerial and surface lifts, as well as the Mountain Coaster. And as a Gunstock employee, you’ll become part of a special team of NH who love our mountain and work hard to make it fun for their neighbors. This position reports directly to the Lift Maintenance Supervisor.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Perform preventative maintenance and responsive repairs of all aerial and surface lifts, including the Mountain Coaster; regularly inspect safety switches and control circuits, sheaves, bull-wheel liners, bushings, cables, grips, electrical systems, chairs, and towers for signs of wear, stress, or fatigue; conduct maintenance work and minor repairs on electrical motors, internal combustion engines, brakes and brake motors; regularly climb lift towers for inspections, ice removal, and repairs; perform highly skilled repairs on all lift systems in a thorough manner to minimize recurring service interruptions.

Responsible for the daily Lift and Mountain Coaster opening and closing procedures, including safety circuit checks and lift line/rail checks; communicate effectively with Mountain Operations personnel to ensure all lifts and Mountain Coaster are opened to the public as scheduled; notify management of all service interruptions and provide timely status updates.

Assist Lift Operations as needed with the daily operation of each lift as assigned; provide technical expertise on the safe and efficient operation of lift systems for new hire and in-service training for Lift Operators; advise on the development of safety protocol for proper loading/unloading techniques for employees assisting guests and/or transporting materials, including Ski/Board Instructors, Patrollers, and F&B personnel; may also act as back-up to other trade workers on complex projects.

Work with the entire Operations Team in various capacities to support business operations, guest and employee functions, special events as needed; activities like moving and relocating equipment and materials, traffic control, housekeeping and trash pickup assistance; may also act as back-up to other trade workers on complex projects.

SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATES WILL HAVE:

5+ years of lift maintenance or construction experience with a strong working knowledge of mechanical, structural and electrical engineering principles as they pertain to the construction, maintenance and operation of aerial and surface lifts

Tower climbing certification required within 3 months of start date

Thorough knowledge of B77 regulations pertaining to the safety requirements for aerial passenger tramways, aerial lifts, surface lifts and tows, as established in the American Safety Standards

Proven ability to troubleshoot and diagnose electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic issues effectively in high pressure situations; maintain current working knowledge of technical trends and lift systems.
