AWS Data Engineer II
We are seeking an AWS Data Engineer II to design, build, and optimize large-scale data pipelines and analytics solutions on Amazon Web Services (AWS). This role involves designing and constructing the infrastructure and pipelines that allow organizations to efficiently and securely collect, store, process, and analyze large volumes of structured and unstructured data. The Data Engineer will manage the end-to-end data lifecycle, ensuring data reliability, quality, scalability, and accessibility for business and technical stakeholders. Responsibilities Design, build, and optimize ETL/ELT workflows to ingest data from multiple sources such as S3, Redshift, Lake Formation, and Glue. Implement processes for data cleansing, enrichment, and standardization. Automate batch and streaming data pipelines for real-time analytics using tools like Kinesis, MSK, and Lambda. Ensure pipelines are optimized for scalability, performance, and fault tolerance. Optimize SQL queries, data models, and pipeline performance. Ensure efficient use of cloud-native resources including compute, storage, and networking. Design and implement data architecture across data lakes, data warehouses, and lakehouses. Optimize data storage strategies, including partitioning, indexing, and schema design. Implement data integration from diverse sources such as databases, APIs, IoT, and third-party systems. Collaborate with Data Scientists, Analysts, and BI developers to deliver clean, well-structured data. Document data assets and processes for discoverability. Provide training to existing core staff to maintain infrastructure. Essential Skills Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or related field. 5+ years of experience in data engineering roles. Proficiency in SQL, Python, or Scala for data transformation and processing. Experience in the utility industry data. Strong understanding of utility data domains such as meter data, customer data, grid/asset data, work management, and outage data. Familiarity with CIM standards and utility integration frameworks. Working knowledge of AWS services including Storage & Processing: S3, Glue, Redshift, Athena, EMR, and Streaming: Kinesis, MSK, Lambda. Work Environment This position is fully remote, allowing you to work from the comfort of your own home while collaborating with a dynamic team using the latest AWS technologies. Job Type & Location This is a remote 6-month contract position based out of Seattle, Washington. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $49.78 - $54.59/hr.
