A Cybersecurity Analyst protects an organization's digital assets by monitoring networks, identifying vulnerabilities, and responding to security incidents, ensuring data integrity and confidentiality.

Key Responsibilities

  • Threat Detection and Prevention:
    • Monitor network traffic and systems for suspicious activity.
    • Identify and analyse potential security threats and vulnerabilities.
    • Implement and maintain security measures, such as firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and antivirus software.
    • Conduct vulnerability assessments and penetration testing to identify weaknesses in systems.
  • Incident Response:
    • Investigate and respond to security incidents, including data breaches and malware infections.
    • Contain and mitigate security incidents to minimize damage.
    • Document and report security incidents for analysis and future prevention.
  • Security Policy and Compliance:
    • Develop and implement security policies and procedures.
    • Ensure compliance with relevant security standards and regulations.
    • Educate employees on security best practices and awareness.
  • Other tasks:
    • Research and stay up-to-date on the latest cybersecurity threats and trends.
    • Collaborate with other IT professionals to ensure a secure environment.
    • Work closely with IT staff to select and install firewalls and data encryption programs.
    • Troubleshoot network performance issues.
    • Provide network security guidance on critical vulnerabilities.
Skills Required
  • Technical Skills:
    • Strong understanding of networking, operating systems, and security protocols.
    • Experience with security tools and technologies.
    • Knowledge of common cyber threats and attack vectors.
    • Familiarity with security frameworks and standards (e.g., NIST, ISO).
