A Cybersecurity Analyst protects an organization's digital assets by monitoring networks, identifying vulnerabilities, and responding to security incidents, ensuring data integrity and confidentiality.
Key Responsibilities
- Threat Detection and Prevention:
- Monitor network traffic and systems for suspicious activity.
- Identify and analyse potential security threats and vulnerabilities.
- Implement and maintain security measures, such as firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and antivirus software.
- Conduct vulnerability assessments and penetration testing to identify weaknesses in systems.
- Incident Response:
- Investigate and respond to security incidents, including data breaches and malware infections.
- Contain and mitigate security incidents to minimize damage.
- Document and report security incidents for analysis and future prevention.
- Security Policy and Compliance:
- Develop and implement security policies and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with relevant security standards and regulations.
- Educate employees on security best practices and awareness.
- Other tasks:
- Research and stay up-to-date on the latest cybersecurity threats and trends.
- Collaborate with other IT professionals to ensure a secure environment.
- Work closely with IT staff to select and install firewalls and data encryption programs.
- Troubleshoot network performance issues.
- Provide network security guidance on critical vulnerabilities.
- Technical Skills:
- Strong understanding of networking, operating systems, and security protocols.
- Experience with security tools and technologies.
- Knowledge of common cyber threats and attack vectors.
- Familiarity with security frameworks and standards (e.g., NIST, ISO).
