Cyber Security Product Development Intern

The Defense Sector at Leidos currently has an opening for an Intern for Spring of 2026 within our Cyber Security Product Development group to work in our Huntsville, Alabama office. In this position, you will design and develop software for defensive cyber operations and resiliency efforts. The selected candidate will support creation and customization of a solution.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Creating procedures and techniques for ongoing usage of a cyber operations platform within a customer designated environment.
• Evaluating, selecting, and integrating of open-source cyber tools to incorporate in a cyber operations platform.
• Developing new algorithms used in IDS/IPS systems to detect malicious behavior.
• Developing graphical cyber dashboards and tools to enhance understanding of cyber activities being monitored by a cyber operations platform.

Basic Qualifications:

• Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in cybersecurity, computer engineering, or computer science.
• Must be a US citizen and be able to obtain a Secret clearance.
• Ability to write software and scripts in languages such as Python, BASH, C++, HTML, Javascript.
• Familiarity with dissection of network protocols using Wireshark and other tools.
• Experience with virtualization and containerization technologies such as Vagrant, Docker, VirtualBox, and Kubernates.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Familiarity with the ELK stack (Elasticsearch, Logstash, and Kibana) for a cybersecurity solution.
• Experience with Devops tools such as Git, Jenkins, Make, and Jira.
• Understanding of Cyber Security concepts and agile software development.
• Ability to work independently to deliver software in a timely manner.
