Lead Electrical Engineer – Power System Analysis
(Future Director of Engineering Career Path)
We are seeking a highly motivated Lead Electrical Engineer with strong expertise in Power System Analysis to join our growing engineering team. This is a unique opportunity to step into a leadership role that is positioned to evolve into Director of Engineering as the firm continues to expand.
The ideal candidate will bring both deep technical knowledge and a proven ability to mentor and guide others. You will lead critical projects, support junior engineers in their development, and ensure that high-quality electrical solutions are delivered across a portfolio of commercial, healthcare, education, and mission-critical projects.
Key Responsibilities
Perform detailed power system analyses including short circuit, load flow, coordination, arc flash, and voltage drop studies. Develop and review electrical system models using software such as ETAP, SKM, or EasyPower. Collaborate with architects, mechanical engineers, and project managers to deliver fully integrated designs. Provide quality control, peer review, and technical leadership on electrical studies and reports. Mentor and train junior engineers, supporting their technical growth and project execution skills. Support proposal development, client meetings, and serve as the technical lead in project discussions.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering. 7+ years of electrical design experience with a strong emphasis on power system studies. Proficiency with SKM Power Tools, ETAP, or EasyPower. Strong leadership traits with a proven ability (or demonstrated potential) to mentor and manage engineers. Excellent communication skills and ability to thrive in a collaborative environment. PE license preferred (EITs actively pursuing PE will be considered).
Ideal Candidate
15+ years of experience with a PE license and prior leadership or management experience. At least 5 years of hands-on Power System Analysis experience. Career-oriented, detail-focused, and seeking a long-term leadership opportunity.
What This Role Is (and Isn’t)
This is not a traditional power and lighting design role. While some minor redesigns and adjustments in AutoCAD may be needed, the focus is on power studies, leadership, and mentorship. This role is designed to evolve into Director of Engineering, managing the technical team while supporting the firm’s overall growth strategy.
Why Join
Be part of a fast-growing firm with strong project demand. Step into a role with a clear career path to Director-level leadership. Work directly with a collaborative, close-knit team where your expertise and leadership will make an immediate impact. Please send your resume to hmccormick@selectek.net for consideration.Â
