Maintenance Technical Trainer
Opportunity summary: As a maintenance trainer, you will learn to be responsible for learning all aspects of maintenance around converting or corrugating equipment. You will leverage L&D and OPS resources to train our union team members and document results. We are always responsible for our maintenance team's safety, quality, and performance. You will identify opportunities within the department to improve performance and execution; you will manage training around preventative maintenance and repair efforts for our hourly team with the goal to improve equipment up time. This is an hourly, nonunion role.
You will impact Smurfit Westrock by directing and training the hourly maintenance techs. Your development will include learning to:
Assess technical talent on the team, make recommendations about where to put training resources to improve equipment uptime
Leverage our L&D team to help develop plans for hourly techs to get to the next level, using internal and external resources
Follow L&D guidelines to train hourly techs on specific maintenance tasks and document the results
Assist, when necessary, with daily work orders, preventative maintenance and emergency repairs
Help hire a best-in-class maintenance team
Become a JDE subject matter expert
Manage technician performance and downtime of machines by troubleshooting and preventing issues that could cause downtime or breaks and resolving issues in timely fashion, and coaching them to complete repairs themselves
Work to coach our team to ensure equipment downtime is fully utilized and scheduled to optimize the maintenance work that can be performed while the machine is down
Assist with accident/incident investigation for any incidents that occur in the department
Set an example by utilizing and helping to enforce the Maintenance Department\u2019s Standard Operating Procedures
Establish and follow up on individual goals and evaluate work performance for direct reports
Develop effective partnerships with plant hourly employees to improve overall plant production to help them troubleshoot equipment
Assist with the review and updating of department training material
What you need to succeed:
High School diploma or G.E.D.
5-10 years of industrial maintenance experience
Proven supervisory track record
Demonstrated leadership ability
A high regard for safety
Strong communication, and interpersonal skills leveraged to motivate stakeholders and achieve alignment across the organization
Ability to learn proprietary software programs
The starting range is $60,000-$70,000/yr, depending on your role, level, and location. The benefits for this role may include short-term bonus incentive, health, dental and vision insurance, flexible spending accounts or health savings accounts, retirement savings plans, life and disability insurance programs, and paid sick leave as required by applicable state/local law, 10 days of paid vacation, and 11 days of paid holidays, subject to annual change.
