Job Title: Animal Care Technician - Cage Wash Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Animal Care Technician to join our team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in maintaining the quality and health of research animals by ensuring their environment is clean and well-maintained.

Responsibilities

Place processed bedding, feed, and other related items into assembled, sanitized cages.

Maintain detailed records of maintenance schedules, detergent and disinfectant use, and performance tests of cage washers and autoclaves.

Perform daily animal health observations and animal husbandry duties to ensure the quality and health of research animals.

Conduct daily water bottle and automatic water line checks, and ensure appropriate food and water are provided.

Perform cage changing and/or cage cleaning as required per Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and specified protocols.

Essential Skills

Experience with animal care, monitoring, and husbandry.

Proficiency in animal handling and cleaning.

Knowledge of cage washing and vivarium operations.

Understanding of animal health and animal science.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required.

Six months of experience in research animal care and husbandry preferred.

Work Environment

This position is based in an Animal Research Lab specializing in Oncology. The role requires standing, walking, and moving about the campus on a continuous basis. The candidate must be able to lift, carry, or move objects and materials weighing up to 50 lbs and be able to ascend/descend stairs regularly.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Baltimore, Maryland.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $16.00 - $16.00/hr.
