Data Scientist
in AbbVie BTS, you'll have opportunities to contribute to the digital transformation of a leading biopharma company, helping to create solutions that impact patients and their communities for the better. Purpose We are looking for a Data Scientist with entry-level analytics experience, preferably in an operations business which includes one or more Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Quality, Purchasing and Science & Technology. The Data Scientist will assist in exploratory data analysis, explanatory data analysis, execution of analysis plans, develop predictive models using statistical and machine-learning methodologies with complex modeling techniques in collaboration with more senior team members and communicate insights to the team. Responsibilities Assist the team with the analysis of business requirements and developing solution recommendations which anticipate the future impact of changing business requirements. Participate in the design and development of processes and systems to consolidate and analyze data. Considerations include variety (structured, unstructured), volume (includes big data), data quality (cleaning and validation of the data) and velocity (batch, stream). Participate in the development of advanced analytical models and techniques from supervised and unsupervised machine learning, statistical analysis, and predictive modeling. In collaboration with more senior team members, generate reports with findings and help to communicate these effectively via written, oral and visual dashboard methods.
Qualifications
Required: Bachelors Degree equivalent education plus 5 years of experience, Masters Degree or equivalent education plus 4 years of experience. Minimum undergraduate knowledge of statistical and machine learning methods, with knowledge in modeling and business analytics. Academic experience with statistical packages such as R or Python; solid skill in at least one of Python or R. Academic experience in enhancing the data collection process by consolidating data, standardizing, optimizing and performing exploratory data analysis before use in ML models (e.g., capstone projects). Academic experience in working with modern relational databases and/or distributed computing platforms (Big Data) and their query interfaces (SQL, Spark, PySpark, Hive). Academic experience using visualization techniques to present data and analysis as dashboards in tools such as R/Shiny, GGPlot, Tableau, Qlik or custom web-based solutions. Familiarity with Amazon Web Services, Apache Spark, NumPy, TensorFlow is a plus. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Comfortable working in a fast-paced, highly collaborative, dynamic work environment. Able to come onsite 3 days a week.
Nice to Have: Background in life sciences or work experience in the pharmaceutical industry. Knowledge of Agile project management processes. Knowledge of DevOps processes. Experience with Personalization, Search, Deep Learning, Operations Research. Working experience of OS Linux/Unix. NLP, data mining, text mining, etc. Working knowledge of data science tools like Dataiku, AWS SageMaker, etc.
Additional Information
The compensation range described below is the range of possible base pay compensation for this role. Individual compensation will depend on factors including geographic location. Salary: $82,500-$157,500. We offer a comprehensive package of benefits including paid time off (vacation, holidays, sick), medical/dental/vision insurance and 401(k) to eligible employees. This job is eligible to participate in our short-term incentive programs.
