CFH Main Midtown Office - New York City About Care For the Homeless (CFH): For 40 years CFH has provided healthcare, shelter, and hope to New York Citys most vulnerable neighbors. We operate 17 health centers and five shelters across all five boroughs and are seeking mission-driven people to help us carry this work forward. About the Position
We are seeking a detail-oriented, self-directed, and engaged individual to join our team. Reporting directly to the Chief Development & Communications Officer, the Institutional Funding & Grant Partnerships Manager will lead the development, writing and submission of all grant proposals to foundations, corporations, government agencies, and other strategic partners to support our current programs and strategic growth initiatives. The ideal candidate is a strong storyteller, highly organized, and has a proven track record of developing persuasive narratives, interpreting and aligning grant budgets, and thriving in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. This role requires active participation in internal and external meetings and regular cross-functional collaboration with program, development, finance, and the executive team. Responsibilities Grants Management & Writing Research, identify, and qualify foundation, corporate and government funding opportunities to support CFH programs and initiatives. Write, edit, and submit dynamic high-quality proposals, Letters of Interest, concept papers, and grant applications that clearly communicate CFHs mission, programs, and impact. Manage all grant reporting requirements, ensuring timely and accurate submission of financial and narrative reports, as well as ensuring required asset, recognition and other documentation is met and submitted to funder in a timely manner. Maintain an organized calendar of grant deadlines, deliverables, and funder communications. Maintain a progressive pipeline of prospective funders from across all sectors, growing an active portfolio of grants and becoming a front-line fundraiser over time. Analyze funding trends and provide strategic recommendations to leadership to strengthen the grants program.
Strategic Partnerships
Build and steward relationships with foundation program officers and corporate giving representatives to expand support for CFHs programs. Partner with leadership to design and implement tailored engagement strategies for institutional partners, including participation in CFH events, webinars, roundtables, and program site visits. Drive corporate partnership growth through grant and/or sponsorship opportunities, employee volunteer initiatives, and cause-marketing campaigns. Represent CFH at external meetings, networking events, and other forums to champion our mission and secure programmatic support. Plan, coordinate, and participate in funder site visits, ensuring a compelling experience that highlights CFHs impact. Engage with networks across NYC and the tri-state area to raise visibility, strengthen relationships, and cultivate new opportunities for investment. Collaborate with program and finance teams to gather data, budgets, and outcomes for proposals and reports, ensuring documentation aligns with funder priorities while maintaining organizational voice. Support funder stewardship and cultivation efforts in coordination with the development team. Work with the communications team to share funder highlights and programmatic results. Track grant activity and communications in the organizations CRM/database. Provide regular updates to the development team and leadership on institutional fundraising progress.
Qualifications
Bachelors degree in English, Communications, Journalism, Public Administration, Nonprofit Management, or related field preferred. Demonstrated success in securing grants from foundations, corporations, and government agencies. 35 years of professional grant writing experience with a proven track record of securing foundation, corporate, or government funding. Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills, with ability to translate complex program details into compelling proposals. Knowledge of budget development for proposals and funder reporting. Familiarity with nonprofit fundraising best practices and donor stewardship. Ability to build strong working relationships with staff, funders, and stakeholders. Strong research skills and familiarity with databases, prospecting tools, and philanthropy resources. Highly organized with excellent project management skills; ability to manage multiple deadlines simultaneously. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with funder platforms and donor CRM systems. Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. Commitment to the mission, values, and goals of the organization. High attention to detail with strong grammar and analytical skills. Must be willing to travel throughout NYC and tri-state area for site visits, donor meetings, and networking events. Position is hybrid with 3 days at our administration office in NYC.
