Principal UX Designer

In this fast-paced role, you will establish industry-leading standards for user experience, ensuring that our tools empower our investment professionals to reach their goals. Your skills in accessibility, interactive design, and usability will be pivotal in delivering aesthetically appealing and functional digital products. Develop creative solutions for diverse product design challenges, encompassing desktop, hardware interfaces, physical environments, and interpersonal interactions.
Oversee the design of new and improved user experiences.
Strategically plan and design the direction for future iterations.
Quickly iterate on various interactive design solutions.
Advocate for design initiatives by linking business and user objectives with data and research findings.
Create detailed storyboards, mock-ups, and prototypes to convey interaction and design concepts.
Produce work that is not only functional and user-friendly but also drives positive results.
Collaborate with engineers and product managers throughout all phases of the production cycle.
Evaluate and optimize the performance of new and existing features through user research and performance metrics.
Draft and maintain detailed user-interface specifications.
Present design work to multiple teams and leadership for feedback and review.
Establish user experience guidelines and standards to streamline UI development.
Contribute to the team's expertise in user-centered design and research methodologies.
Qualifications:
Minimum of 8 years of experience in UX or related design fields.
Preferred degree in interactive design, architecture, industrial design, graphic design, or human factors.
Experience in Asset Management or Investment Applications Design is a plus.
Capable of providing design leadership and identifying strategic opportunities that align with business goals.
Proven ability to collaborate with various stakeholders to develop and prototype product visions.
Ability to lead design initiatives and achieve business outcomes across multiple teams.
Skilled in extracting insights from qualitative and quantitative feedback to inform design decisions.
Strong design skills in service design, information architecture, prototyping, user research, and visual design.
Excellent communication and storytelling abilities, able to liaise with technical and business partners alike.
Experience in agile environments delivering digital products is preferred.
Experience with research methodologies to support evidence-based design decisions is a plus.
A digital portfolio showcasing your work is required.
Familiarity with design systems and an understanding of their importance for scalability is essential.
Collaborate across the organization to ensure cohesive user experiences.
The FIFT team is responsible for the technology systems utilized in Fixed Income across Bond and Money Market Products, managing approximately $2 trillion in assets. We leverage agile methodologies to enhance our delivery of significant value to customers and partners, working with a variety of technologies including AWS, Angular, Java, Python, REST/API, PL/SQL, HTML, and Kafka. Please note, most positions at Fidelity are Hybrid, requiring employees to work onsite every other week in a Fidelity office. This does not apply to Remote or fully Onsite roles.
