Job Summary: The ad platform engineering organization within the Disney Entertainment/ESPN Product & Technology organization is responsible for building, enhancing, and maintaining a high-performance, distributed, microservice-based digital advertising platform. The platform enables configuration, qualification, delivery, and tracking of digital advertisements globally across Disney video-on-demand and Live TV properties, including Hulu, Disney+, ESPN, and more. As part of the programmatic teams, we build and maintain Disneys programmatic advertising suite of products and services that comprise Disney's Real-time Ad Exchange (DRAX). DRAX is an in-house SSP that enables programmatic deals and integrates programmatic demand from multiple third-party sources into the Disney ad server in real time. Role:
Full-Stack Senior Software Engineer. You will collaborate with cross-functional partners and engineering teams on design and implementation of products and features, contributing to the evolution of user-centric advertising at scale. On a daily basis you should bring: A willingness and desire to effectively communicate and collaborate across teams and systems An understanding of the importance of project ownership A passion for mentoring, learning, and adapting to a very dynamic and fast-paced environment An understanding of microservice encapsulation and loose coupling An understanding of how to define technical and operational metrics to measure system health and manage risk Kindness and pragmatic optimism Responsibilities: Design, implement, and test solutions in a high-throughput, low-latency microservices environment Enhance system observability with metrics, monitors, and alerts Read and translate product user stories into actionable tasks Own one or more of the teams domain areas Use automated tools (AI) in compliance with company policy Available for On-Call rotations per team escalation policy Basic Qualifications: 5+ years of software engineering experience Proficiency with Java and ORMs Experience with ReactJS or similar frontend frameworks Relational databases such as MySQL or Postgres Analytical/problem-solving skills Strong communication and collaboration skills; able to work with technical and non-technical audiences Preferred Qualifications: SpringBoot and related Spring projects Cloud platforms such as AWS DevOps tools such as Terraform, Docker, and Kubernetes Data streaming mechanisms such as Apache Kafka, Kinesis, and/or SNS/SQS Domain knowledge in the Ad Tech industry Education: BS or MS in Computer Science / Engineering or relevant work experience Additional Information #DISNEYTECH The hiring range for this position in Santa Monica, California is $136,038 to $182,490 per year and in Glendale, California is $136,038 to $182,490 per year. The base pay offered will take into account internal equity and may vary by geographic region, knowledge, skills, and experience.
