R&D System Test Intern

Our R&D engineers are tasked with designing and developing implant products for the Active Implantable Systems (AIS) group. This includes technologies that monitor, support diagnosis and treat irregular heart rhythms, heart failure, and sudden cardiac arrest. AIS provides devices and therapies for a patient's entire continuum of care, from diagnostic to treatment. This division strives to innovate and create a paradigm shift that can solve unmet clinical needs and change what is possible for patients. Your responsibilities will include: Work with the systems test team to design, execute, and document test cases for Android-based medical device applications. Develop and maintain automated test scripts using Python or Kotlin, leveraging frameworks such as UIAutomation, UIAutomation2, and Appium. Support validation efforts by replicating real-world device usage scenarios within the Android OS environment. Contribute to testing-related projects that ensure software reliability, performance, and compliance with clinical requirements. Participate in test planning, defect tracking, and troubleshooting activities. Engage cross-functionally with engineering and clinical teams to understand device behavior and improve test coverage. Required Qualifications: Current rising junior or rising senior (grad dates between Dec 2026 - May 2028), graduating senior (May 2027 grad) continuing on to grad school, or current grad student. Must have at least one semester of school left post-internship to qualify. Working towards a Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering. Must be able to start internship on May 18th or 26th, 2026 and work for 12 weeks. Must have reliable transportation to/from work. Experience using programming languages such as Python or Kotlin. Familiarity using Android-Based Test Frameworks such as UIAutomation, UIAutomation2, and Appium. Familiar with using Android OS. Experience with testing-related projects in school or work. Preferred qualifications: Medical industry experience. Ability to communicate effectively with diverse, cross-functional teams. Passion to learn new technologies and find new solutions. Demonstrated technical skills. People leadership potential. Compensation will be commensurate with demonstrable level of experience and training, pertinent education including licensure and certifications, among other relevant business or organizational needs.
