Prince William County . The Planning Office is seeking a

creative and talented Senior Planner

to join our Countywide Planning team. This role is an exciting opportunity to improve the quality of life for County residents and businesses through thoughtful planning, meaningful community engagement, and strategic problem-solving. Countywide Planning prepares, administers, interprets, and implements the Comprehensive Plan, including review of development applications, new public facilities, new conservation easements, and the Capital Improvement Program. This program provides project management and technical support for special studies, zoning text amendments, and regional planning efforts; and provides planning analysis, maps, GIS services, and management of GIS data layers. Role and Responsibilities

Work as a team member for Countywide Planning projects and independently using extensive experience to oversee analysis and create guidance for land use planning. Assist with developing and updating comprehensive plans, zoning ordinances, and other planning documents. Manage assigned projects to meet deadlines and apply current principles, practices, laws, and regulations for planning, zoning, and land development. Minimum Education, Training And Experience

High school diploma or G.E.D. and 6 years of related experience. The equivalent combination of education and related work experience (including internships) may be considered. Preferences

A masters degree and AICP certification is preferred, along with 6 years of planning experience. Knowledge of planning practices and principles, experience in developing Comprehensive Plans, reviewing development, and managing projects/applications. Proficient skills in computer programs such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, GIS and web editing software, research, writing technical reports, data analysis, project management and presentations. Experience working directly with local government, to include working with elected and appointed officials. Strong communication skills essential for writing, presenting, facilitating, negotiating, explaining planning terms and processes to customers, and collaborating effectively as a team member. Analytical abilities to integrate and interpret data from various sources, and to plan, develop, and implement reasonable strategies. Ability to interpret and apply laws, ordinances, regulations, and policies to complex planning problems. Ability to manage multiple assignments with competing deadlines. Work Schedule

Full-time, 37.5-hour work week with occasional evening Public Hearings. Starting Salary Range

$78,000 - $90,000 Benefits
