Development and Alumni Relations (DAR) supports Johns Hopkins' focus on research, teaching and patient care, and its role as a national and global leader in higher education. The Office of Alumni Relations (OAR) leads engagement for nearly 260,000 alumni across Johns Hopkins schools, with seven functional areas including Reunion Programs, Lifelong Learning and Travel, Regional/Student/Young Alumni Programs, Mentoring Initiatives, Communications, Identity and Shared Interest Communities, and the Alumni Council. The Sr. Data Analyst serves as the primary expert on alumni and constituent engagement data within OAR, leading data management, analysis, and business intelligence to drive strategies, programs, and evaluation (ROI, etc.). Responsibilities
Data Management and Integrity: Collaborate with OAS to maintain and ensure the integrity of alumni data within JHAS, a Salesforce-based CRM; develop and enforce data governance policies; manage data imports, exports, and integrations; resolve discrepancies to ensure accuracy. Data Analytics and Reporting: Serve as the subject matter expert on alumni engagement data in JHAS; develop and manage reports, dashboards, and data visualizations (Salesforce, Power BI, etc.); conduct trend analysis and provide insights to enhance programming and outreach; lead reporting on Campaign Engagement Measures and Alumni Engagement Metrics; support internal KPIs and process improvements. CRM & Technology Optimization: Train OAR staff on data tools and JHAS functionality; support segmentation and targeting; identify CRM enhancements; oversee data migrations and event registrations. Survey & Assessment: Design and analyze alumni survey dashboards to assess engagement and satisfaction; interpret data to inform programming improvements. Collaboration & Strategy Development: Partner with Advancement Services to align on best practices and optimize database functionalities; serve as a strategic partner in fundraising and engagement initiatives; stay current on CRM developments through JHAS training and workshops. Data Governance & Compliance: Ensure data handling aligns with university policies and regulations (FERPA, GDPR); document and enforce data quality standards; represent OAR in data integrity committees. Supervision: Manage and mentor the Data Analyst, including hiring, training, goal setting, and performance evaluation. Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree. Five years' experience. Education/experience equivalency as permitted by Johns Hopkins University (see equivalency guidelines). Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree in a related field. Five+ years of data analytics experience, preferably in higher education or alumni relations. Expertise in SQL, SOQL, and ETL processes; familiarity with data warehousing concepts. Experience managing data pipelines and workflow automation. Strong project management, prioritization, and multi-initiative execution skills. Proficiency in advanced Excel (Power Query, VBA, Macros, Pivot Tables). Strong presentation and interpersonal skills; ability to convey data-driven insights to leadership. Experience with data analytics, reporting, and visualization tools (Salesforce, Tableau, Power BI, SQL, ETL). Analytical and problem-solving ability with large datasets; excellent stakeholder communication.
