Overview
Job Title: DENTAL ASSISTANT 2 - DENTAL STERILIZATION at University of Washington
The School of Dentistry has an outstanding opportunity for a Dental Assistant 2 to join the team. This position is located at the SOD UW Magnuson location. The DA2 performs a variety of tasks in Dental Sterilization, supporting sterilization services for 20,000+ patient visits annually. The DA2 works under the direction of the Dental Clinic Supervisor in a small team to ensure sterilized instruments and related resources are available for clinic operation.
Responsibilities
- Check instruments and cassettes in and out, with detailed asset records.
- Maintain and operate autoclaves and sterilization equipment; disinfect items and follow pre-sterilization and sterilization protocols (scrubbing, ultrasonic operation, drying, sorting, packaging, labeling).
- Assemble dental instrument packs.
- Store sterile and disinfected set-ups for delivery to clinics and providers.
- Coordinate pick-up and delivery of student and school-owned instruments.
- Monitor instrument wear and determine replacement needs.
- Maintain daily logs of school-owned instruments and equipment; notify parties if items are missing.
- Monitor hand piece sterilization logs; perform weekly spore testing on autoclaves and other sterilizers.
- Keep areas clean and organized; provide excellent customer service to faculty, staff, and students.
- Verify correct sterilization cycles and perform related calculations for sterilizer function and inventory control.
- Inspect, assemble, package, label and date instruments and cassettes; enter inventory data.
- Place orders as necessary and complete sterilization training as required.
- Conduct infection control per OSHA and School of Dentistry regulations.May perform other duties of a DA2 as requested and additional sterilization duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
- Completion of an accredited training program for dental assistants; AND current certification as a dental assistant (CDA) OR ability to obtain within six months; PLUS two years of experience as a dental assistant. One year of additional dental assistant experience may substitute for required education.
Legal Requirement
- Registration with the State of Washington as a Dental Assistant.
Compensation, Benefits and Position Details
- Pay Range Minimum: $44,172.00 annual
- Pay Range Maximum: $59,484.00 annual
- Shift: First Shift (United States of America)
- Employment type: Regular; Full-time (100.00% FTE)
