Overview The Oregon Burn Center Aftercare Coordinator provides project coordination and support in the planning and implementation of a wide range of social and educational activities to reintegrate Oregon Burn Center (OBC) patients into the community.

The Coordinator collaborates with multidisciplinary team and community organizations to meet above objective.

The Coordinator also trains and coordinates volunteers to provide peer support to OBC patients on in-patient and post-hospitalization settings.

Legacy Emanuel Medical Center in North Portland is a local and regional leader in serious clinical illness and injury. It is one of only two Level 1 trauma centers in Oregon and home to the only burn center between Seattle and Sacramento. The hospital is also home to the Life Flight Network, the first of its kind instituted on the West Coast. As a 554-bed facility, Legacy Emanuel provides a full range of services, including around-the-clock expertise for critical health issues, experts in trauma, heart care, burns, significant wounds, stroke, brain surgery and more.

Responsibilities Inpatient/Outpatient Services

Connect patients/survivors with compatible peer support volunteers.

Plan, implement and assess bi-quarterly Burn Support Group meetings co-facilitated with staff or volunteers.

Encourage Burn Support Group attendance through personal invitation/phone calls to burn and wound patients, families and supportive friends.

Coordinate school re-entry according to patient needs.

Coordinate all aspects of social and educational activities including:

Communications with community partners, vendors, participants, etc.

Participant invitations, registration, application, etc.

Arrange for volunteers, community partners, staff, chaperones, etc.

Venue, onsite or on-call coordination/problem resolution, food, setup, cleanup, etc.

Event program details, entertainment, etc.

Travel arrangements as needed for participants

Identify, train and supervise volunteers with a mentoring emphasis

Establish and maintain relationships with reputable community non-profit organizations for collaboration on events, camps and program planning

Maintain Database of survivor contact information

Liaison between Oregon Burn Center and outside vendors and organizations.

Facilitate grant writing/submission & coordinate budgeting/tracking grant funds.

SOAR Coordination

Attend weekly multidisciplinary meeting for details regarding inpatients

Coordinate with OBC psychologist

Maintain SOAR binder for current information for volunteers

Approach patients/families and introduce them to the SOAR program

Contact volunteers to link up with inpatients and outpatients

Lead SOAR volunteer trainings and updates with other coordinators

Maintain SOAR bio books

Meet periodically with volunteers/mentoring

Assist with fund raising activities.

Qualifications Education:

Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Business Administration or related field, or equivalent experience.

Experience:

Project and event coordination, business banking and purchasing, survivor reintegration ,

experience with support groups and community partnerships preferred. Demonstrated volunteer training experience.

Skills:

Event coordination, planning and outreach

Maintain records for certification data base

Strong communication, organization and leadership skills.

Ability to organize, prioritize and apply systematic problem-solving skills.

Ability to work effectively with staff at all levels of the organization.

Keyboard skills and ability to navigate electronic systems applicable to job functions.

Able to identify, train, and supervise volunteers with a mentoring emphasis.

Pay Range
