Position Specific Description

As a part of the Information Technology (IT) group at NextEra Energy, you will work as part of a team that provides data science services to different business units across the company. The Data Scientist IDEA intern will be responsible for the development of new machine learning products and enhancements of existing applications in Amazon Web Services cloud or on-premise platforms. The intern shall provide technical and functional guidance on machine learning, optimization, statistics, and/or applied mathematics, along with sound software engineering and development processes, to deliver business value by translating complex data into meaningful insights.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

Assist with data analytics activities

Support cloud applications

Complete challenging projects and assignments

Help map, evaluate and develop processes for various Project Management activities

will gain understanding of Agile and Waterfall methodologies

Will learn the relationship between the business and IT

Present final project to senior leadership at the end of the internship

Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Job Overview

To be considered for an internship, you must be actively enrolled at a college or university as a full-time student seeking a bachelor’s degree or higher. You must also have a current cumulative GPA of 3.00 or higher (on a 0.00 to 4.00 scale).

Presents final project to senior leadership at the end of the internship

Assumes responsibility for own travel, lodging, and transportation necessary to be available for the program

Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

High school grad / GED

Maintain active enrollment in a Bachelor or higher degree program

Maintain cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
